We arrived back into Venice on this day from our cruise.  Since our plane did not leave until the following morning, we stayed one more night at the Hotel Abbazia.  Stephanie wanted to return to Plazza San Marco to visit the Basilica di San Marco.  After checking into our hotel we hopped on the vaporato for the Plazza San Marco.

If you happened to notice the date as Halloween, you are correct.  We wondered if Halloween was celebrated in Venice.  The answer is, yes.  We do not know to what extent but we did see costumed children walking through the streets in the evening as we headed back towards our hotel.

  Basilica di San Marco

The Basilica does not allow large bags.  You must check them in at a building which is up this street about a block from the Basilica.  It took me a while to find this building even following their maps.  Ugh.

You may not take pictures inside of the Basilica, but you may take pictures outside of the building.  Go up to the top to get some great shots of the Plazza.

The Masks

You can not leave Venice without buying one of the beautiful masks that are for sale EVERYWHERE!.  There are many suggested stores in the travel books we had.  We ended up purchasing our masks at the store mentioned below.  We liked this store because it was large and the masks were displayed un-crowded on the walls and shelves.  It was easier to decide what we wanted.
