  Oha'i ali'i
Design by Laurel Indalecio

Hand appliquéd and stitched

Measures - 45" x 47"

Completed October 2004

I wanted to do quilts that reflected the flora and fauna of the El Paso, Texas region.  This quilt is based on the Oha'i ali'i plant which is also called Caesalpinia pulcherrima. This plant grows all over El Paso. I did not even know it had a Hawaiian name until I was searching for information on the web.
