Wilhelm (William) Rittenhouse

- Immigrated to Colonies in 1688 at the invitation of William Penn whom he knew well
- Born in Prussia (Germany) moved to Holland due to religious persecution
- Left Holland for religious freedom to the colonies with wife and 1 son (Nicolas “Claus”)
- He was the first Mennonite preacher in the colonies then first Bishop
- His house still stands in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA.
- He built the first paper mill in the colonies
