Funeral services for Maude M. Fansler Harden, 88, Garnett, were
Friday, February 21, 2003, at 1:30 p.m. at First
United Methodist Church with Rev. Gale E. Mack officiating. Interment was private. Mrs. Harden died Tuesday, February
18, at her home.
Maude M. Fansler Harden was born October 1, 1914, at Hendricks, WV,
the daughter of Albert and Millie (Propst) Fansler.
She grew up in West Virginia, than moved to Garnett,
where she has lived since 1936. She attended business
school in Ottawa and was a member of the First United
Methodist Church of Garnett, United Methodist Women,
and P.E.O. Maude was a secretary and bookkeeper at Ransom
Memorial Hospital, and a secretary and bookkeeper in the County
Engineer's office during World
War II.
Maude and Ray Harden were married October 16, 1941, at Parsons, WV.
Mrs. Harden was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Millie
Fansler; a great-granddaughter, Madison Thornton; four
brothers and one sister.
Maude is survived by her husband, Ray Harden, of the home; her son,
Dan Harden and his wife, Carolyn, Manhattan, KS; her daughters,
Juli Sale and her husband, Gary, Tucson, AZ, and Patti Heiland
and her husband, Phil, Dodge City, KS; her grandchildren, Jenny
Dorsten, Matthew Harden, Heather Holian, Hollie Thornton, Levi
Benjamin, and Clinton Benjamin; and her
great-grandchildren, Ethan Thornton, Austin Thornton, Jakob
Benjamin, and J.D. Cooley.
Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Bill Craig,
soloist. Musical selections included 'The
Lord's Prayer', 'How Great Thou Art', and 'Country Roads'.
Casketbearers were Clinton Benjamin, Levi Benjamin, Jenny
Dorsten, Matthew Harden, Phil Heiland, and Gary Sale.
Honorary casketbearers were Mary Anderson, Pearl Howerton, Willis
Henderson, Dorothy Henderson, Clarence Johnson, Irma Johnson,
JoAnn Johnson, Katherine Perkins, Jim Shmidl, and Lou Ann Shmidl.
The family received friends on Thursday, February 20, from 7:00 to
8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church
or P.E.O., which may be left in care of the funeral home.

Funeral services for Ray. R. Harden, P.E., 94, Garnett,
were Thursday, October 21, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at First United
Methodist Church with Rev. Gale Mack officiating. Interment was
in Garnett Cemetery.
Mr. Harden died Monday, October 18, at his home. Ray R. Harden was
born October 5, 1910, at Redfield, IA, the son of Omar and
Callie (Johnson) Harden. He graduated from high school in Adel,
IA, and attended Iowa State University for two years. Ray served
with the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific
Theatre. He worked as the Assistant Anderson County Engineer
from 1933-1938, then became the Anderson County Engineer until
his retirement in 1976. Ray was a member of the First United
Methodist Church, and the Rotary Club, receiving the Paul Harris
Fellow award.
Ray and Maude M. Fansler were married October 16, 1941, at Parsons,
WV. She preceded him in death on February 18, 2003.
Mr. Harden was also preceded in death by his parents, Omar and
Callie Harden; three brothers; and one great-granddaughter,
Madison Thornton.
Ray is survived by his son, Dan Harden and his wife, Carolyn, of
Lawrence; his daughters, Juli Sale and her husband, Gary, of
Tucson, AZ, and Patti Heiland and her husband, Phil, of Dodge
City; his sister, June Priel of West Des Moines, IA; six
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Music was provided by Jeanine Zentner, organist, and Bill Craig,
vocalist. Musical selections included “The Lord’s Prayer”, “How
Great Thou Art”, and “They Call The Wind Mariah”. Casketbearers
were Clinton Benjamin, Levi Benjamin, Jenny Dorsten, Matthew
Harden, Phil
Heiland, and Gary Sale. Honorary casketbearers were Richard
Bardsley, Willis and Dorothy Henderson, Clarence and Irma
Johnson, JoAnn Johnson, and Jim and Lou Ann Shmidl.
The family received friends on Wednesday, October 20, from
7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Paul Fansler
Paul P. Fansler, 69, of Hambleton, died Jan. 19, at home.
He was born May 4, 1934, in Hendricks, a son of the late Otis
Stephen and Pearl Agnes Losh Fansler.
He is survived by his wife, Joy Miller Fansler; a daughter
Melissa (and Jim) Southern of Hambleton; two brothers Otis S.
Fansler Jr. of Burceton Mills and Allen Fansler of Hambelton;
two grandchildren Nicholas and Zachary Logan Southern.
Mr. Fansler was a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from
the Department of Highways where he worked as a heavy equipment
operator. He was a member of the NRA and the Bee Keepers
Association.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis from 5 -
9 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 21. Funeral services will be held at
Hinkle Funeral Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 11 am with the
Rev. Leon Heavener officiating. Interment will follow in Fansler
Cemetery. |
