Raymond Junior Corley, 89, of Fairmont, formerly of Morgantown,
passed away on February 4, 2019.
He was born in Pursglove WV on November 15, 1929, a son of the
late Edgar and Pearl Hunt Corley. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Bernadine Hegner
Corley; his brothers, Henry, Donald, Frank and William; and his
sisters, Eleanor Corley Prator and Virginia Mae Corley.
Mr. Corley retired from the Morgantown Department of
Energy in 1985 as an Engineer Technician Supervisor. |
Ray served as a U.S.
Army Military Policeman [Company A, 796th Military Police
Battalion] in Vienna Austria and was the Captain of their
football and basketball team. He also pitched two no-hit, no-run
games for the U.S. Army European baseball team.
Ray graduated from University High School, Morgantown where he
lettered in three sports and was selected on the All North
football team. Mr. Corley, also known as “Catfish Corley”
remained active in local sports by coaching several Little
League, Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth baseball teams. He was an
avid fisherman and hunter, and loved to throw horseshoes, play
cards and Polka dance.
He is survived by his two sons, Mark Allen of Fairmont and his
companion Stacy Strawderman; and Raymond Michael and his wife
Kimberly Konchesky Corley of Morgantown; four granddaughters,
Jocelyn Shuttlesworth, Radine Gum, Stephanie Corley, and Jackie
Corley; two great-grandsons, Rhyus Gum and Niko Corley; four
brothers, Jerry, Robert, Paul, and Gary; and three sisters, Judy
Corley, Carolyn Renner, and Betty Bracken.
Special thanks to Amedisys Home Health Care for the excellent
care given to Ray.
Visitation services will be held at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral
Home, Morgantown on Saturday February 9, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm
and again on Sunday from 1pm until the time of funeral services
at 2pm with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will
follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery with full military honors. |

Anna Eleanor Roosevelt Prater, 83, of Amherst, died Saturday,
February 4, 2017 at her home surrounded by family. Eleanor was
born on July 4, 1933 in Morgantown, WV to Pearl (nee Hunt ) and
Edgar Corley. She worked at Forest City Technologies for 31
years.
Eleanor was an auxiliary member of the VFW, the American Legion,
and AmVets in Wellington. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and
traveling. Eleanor loved bluegrass music and attended many
bluegrass festivals.
She is survived by her husband, Alvie; children Sarah (Mike)
Clem, Lora (Jim) Rollence [step-daughter], John Bosley, Tom Bosley, and Billy
Bosley; |
grandchildren, Austin (Amanda) Smith, Taylor Smith, and
Brianna Bosley; siblings Gary Wayne Corley, Raymond Corley,
Betty Corley, Judy Corley, Caroline Renor, Paul Corley, Robert
Corley, and Jerry Corley. Eleanor was preceded in death by her
son, Mike Bosley; infant daughter, Brenda Sue Butler; twin
brother, Franklin; and her parents.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 11 at
Greenwood Cemetery, Wellington. Norton-Eastman Funeral Home

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Michael K. Bosley of Jacksonville, N.C.,
passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, in Jacksonville, N.C.
He was born March 21, 1955, in Morgantown, W.Va. He moved to
Wellington and lived there about eight years before moving to
North Carolina. His last year he fought cancer.
His living kin include his mother, Eleanor (Alvie) Prater of
Amherst, Ohio; daughter, Deanna Castillo (son Dustin) of
Middleburg, Fla.; siblings Sarah (Mike) Clem and William (Donna)
Bosley, both of Wellington, Ohio, Tom (Filomena) Bosley of
Jacksonville, N.C., and John Bosley (daughter Breana) of
Vermilion, Ohio.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jack Bosley; and
grandparents Edgar and Pearl Corley and Edward and Ruth Bosley,
all of Morgantown, W.Va.
Cremation was Dec. 10, 2015, in Jacksonville, N.C. A service
will be held at a later date. |

Franklin Corley, 78, of
Granville, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 4,
2012. He was born in Arthurdale on July 4, 1933, a son
of the late Edgar and Pearl Hunt Corley. His parents
were original settlers in the New Deal Community
originated by Eleanor Roosevelt. He was Methodist by
faith.
Frank graduated from University High School in 1952. He
then joined the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he
was stationed at Fort Benning, GA. He was trained in the
Army as a mechanic. |
After his return from the service,
he worked for Westinghouse in Fairmont and also the Sterling
Faucet Company. He was retired from Consol’s Blacksville #2 mine
where he was known by a couple of nicknames including
“Buckethead” and “Smiley”. He was a long wall mechanic with 26
years of service.
According to his co-workers at the mine, he was a known
practical jokester, he enjoyed a good riddle and made those
around him laugh. He will be greatly and lovely missed by his
family and friends.
In his younger years, Frank enjoyed playing softball, bowling,
fishing, camping with his family, and throwing horseshoes. Later
in life he was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing Gin with his
buddies at the VFW Post 9916 in Westover where he was an active
member, sitting on the deck of his pool, gardening especially
his zucchini crop that he shared with everyone, and watching
Mountaineer sports at his home surrounded by many family members
and friends. He instilled many good qualities in his children
including being honest, hardworking, and respectful of others.
The importance of family was crucial in his life.
Frank (aka “Pap”) is survived by his loving wife Bonnie Cairney
Corley whom he married on July 4, 1954. One of his favorite
stories to tell was about the date chosen for his wedding. He
said, “I got married on my birthday so I would never forget my
anniversary.” This July would have marked their 58th year
together as husband and wife. The two were high school
sweethearts.
He is also survived by his three daughters, Pam Padon of South
Charleston, WV; Paula Corley of Granville; and Penni Bolyard &
husband Jeff of Morgantown; five brothers, Gary, Raymond, Paul,
Robert, and Jerry, four sisters, his twin Eleanor Prater,
Carolyn Renner, Betty Bracken, and Judy Corley, four
grandchildren, Kari Jefferson & husband Rasheen of Morgantown;
Caitlin Lennon and longtime companion Steven Roberts of
Charleston, WV; James “Jay” Forsythe, IV of McDonough, GA whom
he thought of as a son; and Sarabeth Rice and her son D’Anthonye
of Westover; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Blake, and Dru Viski of
Morgantown and Kelcie Viski of Granville; and his canine
companion, Layla.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by three
brothers, one sister, and several nieces and nephews. |

Paul Clinton Corley, 83, of Cassville passed away on October 8.
2019.
He was born in Arthurdale, WV on June 23, 1936, a son of the
late Edgar and Pearl Hunt Corley. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Donald, Frank,
William, and Raymond; Sisters, Eleanor Corley Prator and
Virginia Mae Corley.
Mr. Corley retired from General Woodworking Company. He was an
avid fisherman and hunter and loved playing cards, throwing
horseshoes and camping.
He is survived by his wife Jane Bane Corley of 60 years; his two
sons, Paul Allen and his wife Cinda Mollisee Corley, and Timmy
Lee and his wife Robin McCord Corley; Grandson Curtis and wife
Shannon Estle Corley; Granddaughter, Cara and husband Billy
Blosser; |
four great grandchildren, Venessa, Camryn, and Rylee
Corley, and Elizabeth Blosser. Also survived by three brothers,
Jerry, Robert, and Gary Corley; and three sisters, Carolyn
Renner, Betty Bracken, and Judy Corley, and many nieces and
nephews.
Special thanks to Amedisys Hospice for their loving care given
to Paul.
Family and friends will be received at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral
Home, Friday from 4 to 7pm and again on Saturday, October 12,
2019 from 9am until the 10am funeral service with Pastor Larry
Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery. |
