Obituary for
Randy L Withrow
https://www.vittstermeranderson.com/obituaries/randy-withrow
Accessed September 6, 2025 |
 |
Randy
L. Withrow, born on February 22, 1961, passed away
on July 12, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love,
passion, and cherished memories.
Randy was a devoted family man who found immense joy
in the company of his loved ones, particularly his
grandchildren, Shamaya, Kenya, Ras Akil, Ava,
Jonathan, Zachary, Jacob, Luca, Brooklyn, Bethany,
Nolan and Corin as well as his great-grandchildren,
Amina, Dontonio, Finley and Matthew.
A veteran of the National Guard, Randy valued
service and commitment, traits that he carried into
his personal life. |
He was known for his love of
music, especially his admiration for The Beatles, whose
melodies seemed to resonate with his very being. Randy
enjoyed dancing, where he often expressed his lively spirit
and joyful nature.
He took great delight in his wife's cooking, dutifully
proclaiming her banana bread to be a particular favorite.
Randy had a unique personality; he was known to be
passionate about the things he loved, including a good
argument that could spark spirited discussions. His fondness
for wolves and eagles reflected a deep appreciation for
nature and freedom.
Randy was also recognized for his distinct habit of chewing
ice, a quirky trait that endeared him to many. Yet, despite
his vibrant personality, he had a notable aversion to having
his picture taken, preferring to be the observer rather than
the subject.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Withrow, and
their children: Christina Riddle,
Angela (Travis Hinkle) Kendle,
Randi (Patrick) Withrow, Anthony Caudill, Jennifer
(Bevan) Jack, Brian (Jenny) Riddle, and
Monica Wilson. Randy is also
remembered by his sister-in-law Leisha Caudill, brother,
Wayne Withrow, his sister Denise and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Donna
Withrow, and his sister, Christine Withrow. Randy’s warmth,
humor, and dedication to his family will be dearly missed by
all who knew and loved him. His spirit will continue to
inspire and bring joy to his family and friends as they
remember the moments they shared together.
A celebration of Randy's life will take place Saturday,
August 2, 2025 at 11 AM at Dayspring Church of God 1060
Smiley Ave. Cincinnati, Oh 45240. Please enter at door 5. |

Woman took bullet while shielding child
The Cincinnati Enquirer, Cincinnati, OH, Tue, Sep
14, 2010, pg 9 |
|

Christine Mae Withrow |
Christine Mae Withrow was
chatting with her daughter and By Jennifer Baker a neighbor,
enjoying a late summer evening on the front porch of her
apartment building.
Her 2-year-old granddaughter, Haley, played nearby on a
step, jabbering in baby talk. Her daughter, Amanda Eudaly,
20, was holding Withrow's latest grandchild, Gabriella, who
is 2 months old. It was the perfect end to a perfect Friday.
Withrow, 42, had spent most of it with her grandchildren.
Minutes later, she would make the biggest sacrifice of all:
She died saving one of her grandbabies.
About 7:30 p.m. a car drove by on Price Avenue, going "real
slow," Eudalyrecalled. Someone inside the vehicle started
shooting at a man walking in front of the building. Pop!
Pop! Pop! He took off, running between the building and a
house. Withrow hustled down to scoop up Haley. |
Pop! Pop! Eudaly jumped up herself, still clutching her
baby, and ran Back on the street The accused gunman beat
earlier charges when witnesses refused to show up in court.
B5 inside. Then, she heard her mother call out. "My name was
the last word she said. She had her arms wrapped around my
baby's head," Eudaly said.
"One of the bullets went through her arm and pierced her
chest. It's like a bad nightmare that everybody can't wake
up from." Withrow died about 15 minutes later on the porch.
Seventeen-year-old Tyrell Gill was charged Saturday in
connection with the shooting. Withrow had recently returned
to work cleaning newly constructed apartments for a friend's
business. She was living in her daughter's Price Avenue
apartment, saving up for her own place, her daughter said.
Withrow had pulled her life back on track, beating a drug
problem she struggled with after her boyfriend was gunned
down in 2001, her daughter said. Frank Drees, 38, was killed
in his Quebec Avenue driveway in Oct 2001, Eudaly said. That
slaying remains unsolved.
Drees was the only father Amanda
Eudaly and her older sister Corissa, 23, knew, Eudaly said,
and Withrow took his death very hard. "It's really hard to
bury your parents when they've been murdered," Eudaly said
Monday while making funeral arrangements for her mother.
"It's really painful. Especially my mom."
Police said Monday that the gunman and his intended victim
know each other and had some sort of dispute, investigators
said.
"It's bad enough that we have so many shootings in the city
where people are intentionally shooting at each other for
their own disagreements, let alone have some innocent
bystander who has nothing to do with their feud be fatally
injured," said Sgt. Bob Liston of the Homicide Unit.
"It's a tragedy on both sides," said Withrow's mother, Donna
Withrow, 69.
Visitation for Withrow is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ralph Meyer
Deters Funeral Home, 4164 W. Eighth St. Her funeral
will follow at noon. She will be buried at St. Joseph New
Cemetery.

husband Fred Ronas in Rock Creek, Ashtabula, OH.
Future second wife Ruth Jane Smith, still single, is living
with her parents and two sons, Robert A Smith. 6 and James E
Smith, 5 in New Cumberland, Cumberland Co., PA
|
| |
1950 - 1962 - Marries
Ruth Jane Smith and adopts her two sons who take his last
name.
However, I am unable to find any proof of this marriage.
It is true that Ruth Jane Smith was married to an Ernest
Withrow and he gave his last name to her two sons who were
born with the last name of Smith. But is it THIS
Ernest Withrow??? There are no documents I can find
online that confirm the identity of the Ernest Withrow that
Ruth Smith married. No marriage documents or birth
certificates. Nothing that has his birth date or that he was
born in Huntington, WV. There is a death certificate for son
Robert A Withrow in 1962, but it just has the name Ernest
Withrow as the father, nothing more.
There are some direct descendant family trees
(grandchildren) on ancestry that do have this union in their
family tree. But no one is providing a wedding or
divorce date for Ernest and Ruth. If these were my
grandparents, I would at least have this info.
The only reason I leave this marriage information here, is
that, it is probably fact, even though I can find no proof.
After finding the news clipping below, I believe the
marriage probably is valid. Note the full name given
in the clipping: Ernest L Withrow , Sr. This
significantly narrows down the field of possible Ernest Withrow's. |

WILLIAM
"BILL" JOSEPH LIGHT of Ojai, Calif - Bill lost his
battle with cancer on Monday, October 23, 2017. He
passed peacefully while at home surrounded by
family.
He was born on August 22, 1940, in Peach Creek, West
Virginia, to William Joseph Light and Helen Withrow
Light. He was the oldest of six children and
attended school in West Virginia, graduating from
Chapmanville High School in 1958, where he met the
love of his life Dora "Fae" Marinis. They married on
May 25, 1960, and were together until Fae's passing
on April 6, 2012.
William "Bill" and Fae moved to Ojai, Calif., in
1963, where they raised their two daughters Lisa and
Robin. They remained in Ojai for the rest of their
lives. Bill spent many of his first years in
California working as a mechanic at Adamson Shell in
Ojai, followed by other positions in landscaping
design and swimming pool installation. |
After retiring, he spent five
years assisting his wife Fae in her remaining years as a
grade school teacher in Santa Paula. After Fae's retirement
from teaching, Bill assisted the girls' softball coaches at
Nordhoff High School in Ojai. He really enjoyed working with
the student athletes and spending time on the softball
fields sharing his sports knowledge, advice and many, many
of his entertaining stories.
Sports of all types were a huge part of his life and he
followed them avidly throughout his life, as well as a love
of traveling to the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, Ca. He
loved playing the penny slot machines. Bill is preceded in
death by his father William, his mother Helen and Fae, his
wife of 51 years.
His survivors include his daughters Robin Light, Lisa Light
Mathews and her husband Tom Mathews, his brothers Doug
Light, Richard Light and Tom Light and his wife Eva; his
sisters Harriet McKnight and Becky Light and her husband
Danny, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the America
Cancer Society. A private family memorial will be planned at
a later time. |

Douglas
Arthur Light "Doug", 83 of Groveport, Ohio passed
away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 19,
2025 at his residence.
He was born on June 23, 1942 in Peach Creek, WV. Son
of the late William Joseph and Helen Louise Light.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by 3 brothers, William "Billy" Joseph Light, Thomas
"Tommy" David Light, Richard "Dickie" Lynn Light,
sister, Harriet Louise McKnight, 2 dear friends,
Kelly Skaggs and Denny Workman.
Doug was a proud son of the mountains of West
Virginia where he was born and raised. He had grit
in his bones and fire in his heart. He grew up full
of fight-a spirit that never backed down and never
gave up. |
The same spirit carried him
through his service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War,
where he served his county with courage and conviction.
During his military service, Doug was awarded the National
Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam
Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal - A reflection of his
honor, discipline, and dedication to duty.
From a young age, Doug took on responsibilities beyond his
years. He helped his mother care for his siblings, stepping
in with strength and loyalty to protect and guide those he
loved. He cherished his brothers and sisters deeply. That
bond of family was one he carried proudly throughout his
life.
As life carried him forward, Doug transformed that fierce
strength into something even more powerful: love. He became
a man who would give you the shirt off his back, lend a hand
without hesitation, and show up no matter the hour. He loved
deeply and endlessly - especially when it came to his
family. In 1968 he married the love of his life, Bobby Ann
Brumfield. Although they divorced, his love for her never
stopped. His love for her was a quiet, steady presence in
his life.A testament to the kind of heart he grew into.
Doug once drove a dynamite truck for the mines in West
Virginia before moving to Ohio and working for Westinghouse
and North American Rockwell where he met his best friend,
Dave Stockham. He then went to work for a company that
changed names many times and retired from Cardinal Health
after 36 years.
Doug was a true competitor at heart, he found great joy in
playing adult softball for his employer. He was so proud of
the Championships they won and all the trophies and memories
along the way. When he wasn't with family, you could find
him on the golf course sharing stories and laughter - a club
in hand and peace in his soul.
Doug also was a Life Member of AMERICAN LEGION Post #1, Life
Member of AMVETS Post 1313, Life Member of VFW 6153.
Doug was a warrior, a friend, a father, a grandfather, a
great-grandfather, and above all, a man who grew into a
legacy of love. He will be remembered not only for where he
started, but for the generous heart he grew into. He leaves
behind a family who will miss him deeply, and a world made
better by the kindness he showed.
May he rest easy now, forever cradled by the mountains he
loved.
Those left to cherish his memories, his only daughter, Tina
Lanette (Bryan) Mullins, 3 grandchildren, Erynn Victoria
Hayes, Jaden Glynn Hayes, and Ella Grace Mullins, and a
great-grandson, Dawson James Alexander. Additionally, he
leaves behind his sister, Rebecca Jo (Danny) Chapman,
sister-in-law, Eva Garrett Light, as well as many nieces and
nephews.
The mountains of West Virginia always called to him, and he
never lost his love for the wild beauty of home. Services
will be held in West Virginia, where he wished to return and
rest forever in the mountains he loved. |

Thomas
David Light THOMAS DAVID LIGHT (77) bravely passed
from this life on January 16, 2023, with his beloved
wife, Eva, by his side.
Tom was born on Oct. 23, 1945, to William Joseph
Light and Helen Louise Withrow in Logan County, West
Virginia.
He graduated from Chapmanville High School in 1963
and immediately entered the United States Army. He
served in Homestead, Florida and eventually ended
his service after 18 months in Germany.
Tom retired from CSX Railroad after 36 years of
service. |
Tom had a great love for sports
and cheered many years for the Vanderbilt Commodores and
Tennessee Titans. He maintained a wonderful sense of humor,
even on his worst of days. He made countless people laugh
and smile and never met a stranger. He maintained many
lifelong friendships that he cherished and was loved and
respected by all who knew him. He loved nothing more than
spending time with his grandsons. He was always their number
one fan and there to offer them encouragement.
Tom is survived by his wife Eva (Garrett) of 58 years and
his children Tonya Christensen (Barry) and Adam Light
(Stephanie); his grand- sons Dylan, Noah, Matthew, and
Gabriel; his brother Doug Light and his sister Rebecca
Chapman (Danny).
He was preceded in death by his precious grandchildren Jacob
and Lindsey as well as brothers William Light, Richard
Light, and sister Harriet McKnight.
Tom demonstrated strength and love until his final moments
on earth and is rejoicing in heaven with his grand-children.
He will be greatly missed. Taylor Funeral Home, Dickson,
Tenn., assisted with arrangements. |

Gregory
Michael Humm, 32, of Parker, CO, formerly of
Dewittville, NY died unexpectedly on Monday, January
22, 2018 in Colorado where he and his wife have
resided for the past six years.
Greg was born June 17, 1985, the son of Fred and
Mary (Mira) Humm of Dewittville, NY.
Greg graduated from Chautauqua Lake High School in
2003.
He went on to attend college at Jamestown Community
College and later received his Bachelor's Degree
from Jamestown Business College. Greg began his
working career as a teen in the restaurant world as
a dishwasher but quickly began dabbling in cooking.
He worked for many years at Andriaccio's Restaurant
and perfected his Tortoni recipe which was a patron
favorite. |
He later created his own wing
sauce which he entered in a local competition and won first
place. This was a major honor and achievement for Greg.
Greg worked multiple jobs while achieving his Bachelor's
Degree which allowed him the opportunity to meet his beloved
wife Stephanie. After moving to Colorado, Greg put his
college degree to use and worked countless hours studying to
pass his stock brokerage exams. It was a proud day for him
when he attained his brokerage license. He was hired at
Fidelity Investments where he was working at the time of his
death. He very much enjoyed his job and often talked about
his wonderful and supportive co-workers.
Greg also enjoyed the outdoors, specifically hunting with
his dad. He was adventurous, charismatic, and had a
love for people and animals alike. Greg was a great
man who was known and loved by many. He was selfless
and loved fiercely. Greg had a million-dollar smile,
an infectious laugh, a pure heart, and an intense loyalty
for his family and friends. He was especially proud of
his Italian heritage and could often be heard greeting his
friends "eh, paison!"
Besides his parents, Greg is survived by his loving wife
Stephanie whom he married October 1, 2016, their fur babies
Presto, a Chiweenie, and his cat Levi, his sister Patty Humm
of Jamestown, NY, his mother and father- in- law Susan and
Terry Presto, of Brocton, NY his sister-in-law Ashleigh
Presto, of Tijeras, New Mexico, his grandmother Eleanor Mira
of Jamestown, NY, many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, as
well as his beloved extended family, the Andriaccios.
Greg is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fred
R. Humm, his paternal grandmother D. Janet Humm, his
paternal Aunt Jeanne Humm, and his maternal grandfather
Felix J. Mira.
Friends will be received at the Lind Funeral Home in
Jamestown, NY on Tuesday January 30, 2018 from 4pm-9pm.
The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman
Catholic Church in Bemus Point, NY on Wednesday January 31,
2018 at 11am. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre
Cemetery in Jamestown, NY. Memorials may be made to
