JEWETT-- Marjorie Gibbons Jewett, 81, of New Plymouth, Oh., passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at her residence.

She was born September 25, 1923 in Jackson County, W.Va., daughter of the late Lloyd and Lucille Duke Gibbons. She taught in the Scioto-Darby School System retiring after 25 years of service and later served as a substitute teacher in the Vinton County School System. She was a member of the New Plymouth United Methodist Church.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, John R. Jewett of New Plymouth; son, John H. (Carol) Jewett of Hilliard; and daughter, Mary (John) Swartz of Worthington; four grandchildren, Kathleen (Darin) Peterman, Brian (Amber) Jewett, Natalie Swartz and Jennifer Jewett; 6 great-grandchildren; 5 sisters, Barbara (Reg) Spencer, Shirley Flanigan, Marilyn (Alfred) Deal, Beverly Walker and Phyllis (Harold) Rowan; 2 aunts, Wanda Pennington and Jo Huddy; brother-in-law, Kelvin Walker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother Iva Gibbons, three brothers Melvin, Lloyd D. and Bill Gibbons, 1 sister Geraldine Pergrin, mother-in-law Mary E. Maxwell, brother-in-law Paul Flanigan, sister-in-law Lois Gibbons, niece Susan Davis and nephew Greg Hemsworth.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005 in the New Plymouth United Methodist Church with Rev. Loisene Hoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the church on Saturday one hour prior to service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Garrett Funer Home, McArthur. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nelsonville High School Alumni Assoc., Scholarship Fund, Nelsonville Alumni Assoc., P.O. Box 472, Nelsonville, Oh. 45764.

JEWETT --John Robert Jewett, age 81, of New Plymouth, Oh. and formerly of Hilliard, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2009.

A local Home Builder and later in life a Real Estate Appraiser. John was also a member of The Ohio State University Marching Band "46".

He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Maxwell, loving, devoted wife of 57 years, Marjorie and son-in-law John Swartz.

Survived by his children, John H. (Carol) and Mary (Dr. Michael Bissell, Fiance) Swartz; grandchildren, Kathleen (Darin) Peterman, Brian (Amber) Jewett, Natalie Swartz and Jennifer Jewett; and seven great-grandchildren.

Arrangements entrusted to the John Quint Treboni Funeral Home, 1177 W. 5th Avenue, Columbus, Oh. Funeral will be held Sunday, August 23, 2009 at the New Plymouth United Methodist Church and Interment will follow at the Elk Cemetery, McArthur, Oh. John Joseph Swartz, age 56, born on October 11, 1950 in Mansfield, Ohio, died on Monday February 26, 2007 at home surrounded by his family.

He retired from The Ohio State University as a Senior Medical Photographer after 30 years of service. John's passion was his black and white fine art photography. His photographs will always be enjoyed by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jack, Waltrude and mother-in-law Marjorie Jewett.

Survived by his loving wife of 31 years Mary, daughters Kathleen (Darin) Peterman and Natalie Swartz, father-in-law John R. Merrill E. Kimble, 24. of Columbus, an electrician's mate second class, was turned over to North Chicago police as an alleged burglar yesterday by authorities of the Great Lakes, a naval training center. Police said Kimble broke into the Red, White and Blue restaurant in Sheridan North Chicago, early Tuesday and made the mistake of mentioning his act to the taxicab driver who drove him back to the center. The driver, William Willis, 1630 Park North Chicago, notified police. Kimble reputedly admitted the burglary.

James Burns Pergrin (Dad, Papa, Jim, Jimmy, Refrigerator Jim) 87, passed away at home on June 12, 2015.

Jim was born July 14, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Max Valentine Pergrin and Doris Parks Pergrin. He was a 1946 graduate of Nelsonville High School, attended Marietta College, was a WWII Army Paratrooper, and a long time member of the Oxnard Alano Club where he was Chairman of the Board for more than 15 years.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother; sister, Martha Pergrin Howe Grantham; daughter, Carol Blum; son-in-law Harold White, and first wife Eula (Jerry) Gibbons Pergrin.

Surviving are his sister, Jessie V. Pergrin, 3 children; Lloyd M. Kimble, Jean L. White, and Doris L. Lopez; 2 step-children, Dee M. Gilbreath and Rodney J. Mason; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; 7 nieces and nephews; and a multitude of AA family members.

Jim's reputation for being able to fix anything started as a toddler disassembling household appliances and door knobs. As a teenager he rewired the family's 1870 Victorian home, learning from a library book as he went. His high school year book remembered him as "James B. Pergrin, Sleepy by name, by football won his fame". He later worked as an electric company lineman and then as a self-taught machinist. He moved to California from Ohio in 1958 with his wife and four children. He went to work as an appliance repairmen, becoming a partner of Ralph's Appliance, (Pasadena, CA) in 1969. In 1973 he moved to Oxnard to open Oxnard Appliance with his partner Ed Clark, and, much later started Gold Coast Restaurant Equipment. He was loved and respected by a multitude of his clients.

With 44 years of sobriety, he had great compassion for those struggling with the disease of alcoholism;

always offering a kind word of encouragement to those in need. His family is extremely proud of his accomplishment and of his work with others in this area.

Jim was a laid-back man, but his love for his family came through loud and clear. He was one of those guys whom old people, babies, and dogs loved instantly. He didn't know the word "step" when it came to his children. He loved and protected all of them equally. If they needed it and he had it, it was theirs. In recent years his great-grandchildren gave him much joy; going to his room to ask Papa for "a bunch" of candy, or sitting on his lap at the computer. Papa loved his scooter, mostly because he wanted to take the kids for a ride.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3 p.m., June 20, 2015 at The Greek Restaurant in the Ventura Harbor.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Oxnard Alano Club, 620 South D Street, Oxnard, CA 93030.

Harold Earl White Jr., 65, of New Market, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home following a lengthy illness.

Born Dec. 28, 1945 in Pasadena, CA, he was the son of the late Harold E. Sr. and Agnes L. Allen White. He was the husband of Jean L. White, his wife of 45 years.

Mr. White served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, retiring from Bethesda Naval Hospital. He was a loyal employee of RSI Van Nuys, California for 22 years. He was a member of Frederick Christian Fellowship. Mr. White enjoyed woodworking, restoring cars, spending time with his grandchildren and goofing off. He was a man who would always be there for you.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Carol Jean Berry and husband, Michael of New Windsor, Cheryl Lynne Weaver and husband, Thomas of New Market, Kenneth H. White of Riverside, CA, Jeri L. Hull and husband, Noel of New Market; grandchildren, Christopher and Lisa Lucas, Andrew and Katie Weaver, Brandon Berry, Emma and Kyleigh Hull; great-grandchidlren, Hialey Remer and Maddison Lucas; siblings, Allen White and wife Jean of Fairfield, CA, Zoeanne Daniel and husband, Phil of Lompoc, CA; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by son-in-law, James E. Walch. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Institute of Health, Cancer Division, Executive Plaza North- Suite 5000, Bethesda, MD 20892-7390. James R. Lucas, businessman, Vietnam vet James R.

Lucas, 54, of Lyndon, a retired business owner, died unexpectedly Sunday (Dec. 29, 2002) in his home. Born in Cheektowaga, Lucas was a graduate of Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville and attended Jamestown Community College's Olean campus. He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. He was the owner-operator of On the Spot Tire Repair of Franklinville for several years.

Afterward, he was employed by the West Valley Demonstration Project, from which he retired in 2002 after many years of service. He also owned and operated Post Pool Hall in Lyndon and played in pool tournaments for years. He was a life member of Post 9487, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in Franklinville. He played horseshoes and competed in area leagues for many years. He also enjoyed his garden.

Lucas is survived by two daughters, Laura M. of South Wales and Jessica L. Lawton of Lawtons; two sisters, Patricia Ann Reynolds Stover, and Joan Swain of Clay City, two brothers, Kenneth of Pennington, and Charles of Portville; two grandchildren; and his companion, Jacki Jaques of Franklinville. Services were held Friday in Babbitt Easton Funeral Home, Franklinville. Burial was in Mount Prospect Cemetery, Franklinville.

Lois Gibbons, 58, of Buchtel, died Friday in St. Anthony Hospital, Columbus.

A member of Buchtel United Methodist Church, she had been employed as an executive secretary for Anchor Hocking. She was a member and past president of Nelsonville Emblem Club.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Susan) Davis of Anchorage, Alaska, Mrs. Delbert (Mary) Matheny and Mrs. Kenny, (Martha) Clowes, both of Buchtel, and Sara Gibbons of Logan; 10 grandchildren; six sisters, Patty Ray and Janice Clouston, both of Lancaster, Judy Backus and Sharon Smith, both of Arizona, Rosemary Vasko of Georgetown and Lisa Kline of Nelsonville; and three brothers, Jim Ray of Delaware, Jack Clouston of Oregon and Roy Clouston of Logan.

Her husband, Lloyd Gibbons, died previously.

A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, with the Rev.
William Mechem officiating. No calling hours will be observed. The family suggests contributions to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Arrangements are by Funeral Home, Nelsonville.

Patricia Gibbons-Davis, 44, died April 13, 1995, at Providence Hospital due to a heart attack.

Mrs. Davis was born July 22, 1950, in Nelsonville, Ohio. She graduated from high school, attained her bachelor's degree, and was working toward her master's degree in women's studies. Mrs. Davis moved to Anchorage in November 1987. She worked as a counselor at STAR and was an intern at Claire House.

She enjoyed reading and writing short stories. Her family said: "Susan was a devoted mother who was striving for a better living for her children."

Walter Kenneth "Kenny" Clowes, 72, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007 at his son's residence in McArthur. He was born November 11, 1934 in Athens, son of the late John and Dolores Adams Clowes.

Kenny was a retired long haul truck driver and Owner/ Operator of Clowes Trucking. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of The Plains VFW and Chauncey Amvets and attended the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.

He is survived by his former wife and best friend, Della Clowes of Nelsonville; daughters, Debbie Mike White of Buchtel, Lois Bobby Lupher of Zanesville and Jeri Max Moran of Frazeysburg; sons, J.D. Jaime Clowes of McArthur and Matthew Clowes of Athens; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Janice Clowes of Millfield and a niece, Barbara Tim Hall of Grove City.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Clowes and a sister, Lois Gerhardstein.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Mike Thomas officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 3-5 PM at the funeral home.

LOGAN - Seven Logan-Hocking School District employees were honored at June's school meeting held Monday; together the retired employees have dedicated more than 166 years of service to the district.

Sara Gibbons was a special education teacher from Central Primary and has spent 30 years serving within the district. She graduated from Nelsonville-York High School, Ohio University and received her master's degree from the College of Mount Saint Joseph.

She began teaching for the district in 1978 as a special education teacher. She has also taught at Logan High School, Union Furnace, Central Elementary and Central Intermediate.

"The school district has been good and fair to me. I have always worked hard for the district," Gibbons said..........
