KEYSER, W.Va. - Hugh H. Kepner, 91,
of 345 Parkview Drive, Keyser, died on Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at
Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, MD.
Born Oct. 17, 1906, in Pocahontas County, W.Va., he was the son
of the late Eugene and Elsie Virginia (Griffith) Kepner. He also
was preceded in death by a son, James E. Kepner.
Mr. Kepner was a retired conductor for the Western Maryland
Railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Surviving are his wife, T. Maxine (Secrist) Kepner; one
grandson, James E. Kepner, Wadsworth, Ohio; two stepsons, Robert
Winkler Jr., Linwood, Pa., and Lee Winkler, Keyser; two
stepdaughters, Rhonda Tranum, Keyser, and Patty Winkler,
Westernport; one brother, Dwayne Kepner, Hambleton, W.Va., 12
step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Markwood McKenzie Funeral Home,
Keyser, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will
be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev.
John F. Footen officiating.
Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, West
Virginia, USA |

SUMMERTON -
Miles James "Jim" Kepner, age 77, beloved husband of 26
years to Star Hunter Kepner, died on Saturday, February
18, 2017 at MUSC.
Born in Parsons, WV, he was the son of the late Myrl
Joseph Kepner and Frances Kathryn Dumire Kepner. Jim was
a graduate of Kansas State University and was a veteran
of the US Navy. He served as the plant manager for
Bendix in Kansas City, Detroit, MI and Windsor, Canada
prior to moving to South Carolina. While in Sumter, Jim
served as the plant manager at Bendix, Allied and Bosch.
In 1985, he was recognized as the South Carolina
Business Person of the Year and had been named the
Sumter Business Person of the Year several times during
the 1980s. Following his retirement, Jim went on to
serve on the Sumter Economic Development Board and later
served as the director |
Jim served on State Economic
Development Board under Governor Carroll Campbell. Jim served on
various boards including: Tuomey Hospital Board, Tuomey
Foundation Board, Sunset Country Club Board, and the Sumter Shaw
Partnership.
In addition to his local service, Jim served on various boards
across the state and nation. Jim was an Honorary Base Commander
for Shaw Air Force Base. He was a founding member of the Sunrise
Rotary Club, where he served as president and was a Paul Harris
Fellow and was active in the Sumter Chamber of Commerce. He was
a member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning.
In addition to his his wife Star Hunter Kepner of Summerton, Jim
is survived by two sons, James Ray Wright II and his wife Lea
Ann Painter-Wright of Greenville; and David Maddox Wright of New
York; four daughters, Crystal Starr Martin of Olympia, WA, Misty
Martin Harris and her husband Gregg of Kernersville, NC, April
Martin Cothran and her husband Scott Ferrell Cothran of Mt.
Pleasant, SC, and Lauren Wright Jones and her husband David of
Troy, MI; one sister, Nancy Kepner Haag of Plattsmouth, NE; nine
grandchildren, Daniel, Emilea, James, Molly, Hunter Anne,
Garrison, Miles, Elli, and Harper Mae and three great
grandchildren, Deborah Rose, Ella and Nathaniel along with a
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded death by his
daughter, Deborah Wright.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017
at 11:00 am at The Presbyterian Church at Manning, 233 N. Brooks
St., Manning, SC with the Rev. Dr. George Wilkes officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 24, 2017
from 5:00-7:00 pm at Bullock Funeral Home, 1190 Wilson Hall Rd.,

CHARLES EUGENE PIFER, RET. U.S. NAVY
COMMANDER 1928-2003
Charles Eugene Pifer, Ret. U.S. Navy Commander, age 75, Hampton,
TN., died Friday, May 9, 2003 at his residence following an
extended illness.
A native of Fairmont, West Virginia, he was the son of the late
Charles and Ruth Kepner Brown Pifer. He was of the Presbyterian
Faith. He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran having proudly service
33 years, he also served on the USS Enterprise as a aviator. He
was a graduate of Royal Military Academy, Front Royal, VA, a
graduate of West Virginia University and a graduate of Naval
Post-Graduate School, Monterey, CA.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Norah Simpson Pifer, a
daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Dr. Charles Hughes; four
grandchildren, Will Hughes, Sam Hughes, Amanda Hughes and Rachel
Hughes, all of Pensacola, FL; and Uncle Duwane Kepner Hambledon,
W. Virginia.
The graveside service will be conducted at 2:00pm Wednesday, May
14, 2003, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with full military
honors. U.S. Navy Chaplain officiating. The family will receive
friends from 6-8pm, Tuesday, May 13 at Tetrick Funeral Home.

Frederick L. Kepner, 73, of 6285 St.
Rt. 345 (Clover Hill), New Lexington, died at 6 p.m. Saturday,
May 10, 1986, at his residence, following long Illness. A
resident of Perry County for 40 years, Mr. Kepner was a heavy
equipment operator of Kelbel Construction Co., and Sunny Hill
Coal Co., both of New Lexington.
He was Baptist by Faith. He was born Feb. 8, 1913,
In Hambleton, W.Va., son of Eugene and Elsa Griffith.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Ferguson Moore Kepner of the home;
four sons, Richard Kepner of Linwood, Pa., Donald Kepner of
Minerva, and Harry and Kenneth Kepner both of Elkins, W.Va.; a
stepson, Brent Moore of Roseville; two stepdaughters, Mrs. - Don
(Penny) Watkins of Carlisle, Ohio and Mrs. Dan (Starla) Peterson
of Nashport; three brothers, Myrl Kepner of Newport Ritchie,
Fla., Hugh Kepner of Keyser, W.Va. and Dwayne Kepner of
Hamilton, W.Va.; two sisters, Ruth Brown of Hamilton, Tenn. and
Eva Meek of N. Ft. Myers, Fla. ; 10 grandchildren, 11
step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one
step-great-grandchild.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Chute-Wiley
Funeral Home in New Lexington where services will be at 1 p.m.
Tuesday with the Rev. James Wright officiating. Burial will be
in Rehoboth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be
made to the American Cancer Society |

Kepner, age 83 years, a resident of Elkins, passed away
Sunday, September 22, 2019 at his home.
He was born June 3, 1936 in Elkins, a son of the late
Frederick L. and Avis Fisher Kepner. On December 4, 1959
at Elkins, he was married to the former Natalie White
who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving is one son, Harry Brent Kepner and wife
Christie of Elkins and children Greg and Kristopher; two
daughters, Kimberly Kepner Channell and husband Roger of
Elkins and children Brittany and Chase and Kristy Kepner
Bock and husband Tom of Ashburn, VA and children Dillon,
Devon and Thomas. |
Three brothers, Donald Kepner of
Minerva, OH, Kenneth Kepner of Elkins and Richard Kepner of
Middleburg, PA. Three great grandchildren also survive. Also
preceding him in death was one brother, Joseph Robert Kepner.
Harry was a Veteran of the United States Army. He was employed
by Kelly Foundry as a pattern maker for fifty six years prior to
his retirement.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September
25, 2019 at Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman. Chaplin
Jennifer Suehs-Vassel will officiate and interment will follow.

Kepner |
Charles Duwane Kepner, 84, of
Hambleton, died May 14, 2009.
He was born Jan. 9, 1925, at Elkins, a son of the late Eugene L.
and Elsie V. Swearinger Kepner.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie A. Kepner; three sons, John
A. Kepner and Frank D. Kepner of Canton, Ohio, and Lani Joe
Kepner of Anaheim, Calif; and several grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Wade Kepner;
and five brothers and two sisters.
Charles was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed
as a machinist for Ford Motor Co. before his retirement and was
a Protestant by faith.
At the request of the deceased, he was cremated. Hinkle
Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. |

FORT COLLINS
Two people in a stolen car died in a crash in Fort Collins early
Friday morning after fleeing a traffic stop.
The occupants died on impact when the vehicle bounced off a
patrol car, slammed into a light post and overturned at the
intersection of Mulberry Street and Lemay Avenue.
The chase began at 3:17 a.m. when a Larimer County Sheriff’s
Office deputy stopped the car for a traffic violation at
Mulberry and Shields streets. Other area law enforcement blocked
intersections to protect the public during the pursuit.
The suspect car sped from police, traveling eastbound on
Mulberry Street. As it approached Lemay, it swerved around a
motorcycle and hit the deputy’s car. The deputy was attempting
to throw road fangs in the intersection and was not in the car.
The passenger in the car was identified as John Charles Kepner,
36, of Fort Collins, the Larimer County coroner reported Friday
afternoon. A no-bond warrant had been issued on Kepner for
failure to appear on a dangerous drugs charge out of Larimer
County.
The coroner’s office did not identify the driver, pending
notification of next of kin.
The suspect vehicle was stolen in Centennial, a south-Denver
suburb, on March 11, the sheriff’s office reported.
None of the deputies were injured during the incident, which
remains under investigation. |

John C. Kepner, age 36, died
unexpectedly on Friday, May 26 in Ft. Collins, Co., where he had
resided the past 11 years. He was a self-employed contractor and
a 1988 graduate of Glenoak High School.
He was proceeded in death by grandmother Hazel Kepner,
grandfather Carmen Dima, Sr., aunt Christine Kepner, uncle Carm
Dima and cousin Carm Dima III. He is survived by his daughter
Jordan Kepner of North Canton, mother and step-father Theresa (Dima)
and Joseph Lorenzo of North Canton, father Frank Kepner of
Canton, sisters Tammy McGann of Durham, NC., Gina Kepner of
Kent, OH., step-brother Joe Lorenzo of Massillon, grandmother
Cora Dima of North Canton, grandfather Charles Kepner of WV.,
and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on
Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. in the Rossi Funeral Home
where friends may call from 5 to 6:30 p.m. A Private burial
service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers,
