James
Troy VanPelt, 54, of Fairmont, passed away Monday,
January 13, 2020 from cancer. He was born January 1,
1966 son of the late James and Charlene VanPelt.
He is survived by his devoted, loving girlfriend and
care-giver Denise “Niecy” Smith of 30 years; son
Patrick VanPelt of Kansas; three brothers – Frank
VanPelt of Fairmont WV, Jayson (Melissa) VanPelt of
Bellville, OH, and Ray (Kathy) VanPelt of Pensacola,
FL; special step daughter Netta Smith and grandkids
Reese, Sheena, Bubby and Bella June; several nieces,
nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. |
Best friends Joel Tate, John
White and Houston Lee. And a special thank you to Pastor
Eric Hines.
Troy was preceded in death by
his father James Jim VanPelt & step-mother Peggy VanPelt and
loving mother Charlene VanPelt, all of Fairmont WV and
paternal and maternal grandparents.
Troy made a living doing construction and painting. He
enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting antiques, camping at
PawPaw, WV and catching catfish.

Clifford Eugene VanPelt Sr., 66,
of Farmington, joined the Lord on Wednesday (Aug. 7, 2013)
at WVU Hospitals after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born in Farmington, on April 18, 1947, a son of the
late James F.P. and Josephine Boldinko VanPelt.
He was raised in Farmington and graduated from Farmington
High School. He worked at The Fairmont Times for 12 years,
working his way up to circulation manager. Then he worked
for newspaper companies in New York and Virginia before
starting his own contracting company, where he worked until
he retired. He enjoyed landscaping a beautiful country home
for his one true love, his wife of 48 years, Mary, and
spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Clifford VanPelt
Jr. and his wife Pearl of Katy, and Richard VanPelt and his
wife Mary of Pine Grove; two brothers, Delmus VanPelt and
his wife Cindy of Mill Fall, and Timothy VanPelt and his
wife Judy of Fairview; two sisters-in-law, Peggy VanPelt
of Fairmont and Debby VanPelt of Mill Fall. He is also
survived by his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Dustin,
Aaron, Mitchelle, Abby, Madison, Tayna, Shanda, Tei, Ri and
Trey; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an
infant daughter, Vicki Marcella VanPelt; two brothers, James
W. VanPelt and Leroy F. VanPelt; and a niece, Rita.
Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition
Chapel – A), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, from 11 a.m. to 2
p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.
Services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m.
Saturday with the Rev. David Knotts officiating. Interment
will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens. |

Clifford "Cliff" Eugene VanPelt
Jr, 54 of Fairmont, WV went to be with the Lord on Thursday,
November 14, 2019. He was born to the late Clifford Eugene
VanPelt Sr and Mary Rivers VanPelt in Fairmont, WV on May
29, 1965. He donated his body to the West Virginia Human
Gift Registry.
Cliff worked as a deputy with the Marion County Sheriffs
department for several years and later became a Lieutenant.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, and
riding his motorcycle.
Cliff is survived by his mother, Mary VanPelt of Fairmont
WV; three children, Dustin VanPelt of Binghamton NY, Aaron
VanPelt of Fairmont WV, and Mitchelle VanPelt of Fairmont
WV; one grandson, Ryker Jacquez of Fairmont WV; one brother
and sister-in-law, Richard and Mary VanPelt of Fairmont WV;
two nieces, Abigail VanPelt and Madison VanPelt, both of
Fairmont WV; and uncles, aunts, and cousins.
Cliff was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Eugene
VanPelt Sr and his baby sister.
Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Cliffs life at
Willow Tree Baptist Church on Dunkard Mill Run Rd in
Farmington, WV on Saturday, November 23 from 11:00am to
2:30pm. |

A West Virginia woman walking
along Interstate 79 in Washington County was hit and killed
by a car she tried to flag down late Friday, state police
said.
Rita Ann Mucino, 28, of Fairmont, was walking south along
the berm of I-79 in Amwell Township when she walked into the
right-hand lane to flag down oncoming traffic, according to
police.
She was struck by a car driven by Nicole Leeper, 25, of
Washington, Washington County, who was unable to stop in
time.
Mucino was pronounced dead at the scene after the 11:55 p.m.
crash. The cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma,
Washington County Coroner Tim Warco ruled.
The investigation continues and state police in Washington
ask that anyone who saw Mucino prior to the accident call
(724) 223-5200.

Austin Cogar, 22, of Fairmont, passed from this life
Thursday (March 23, 2017) at Ruby Memorial Hospital
from complications following open heart surgery.
He was born on Jan. 18, 1995, a son of David Cogar
of Fairmont and the late Rita Ann VanPelt Mucino.
Tyler was a Christian by faith. He enjoyed hunting,
fishing and playing video games.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his
brothers, Nicholas and Dylan Cogar both of Fairmont;
his stepmother, Brittany Cogar; one stepsister,
Marisa Canfield of Fairmont; his maternal
grandmother, Debra VanPelt of Fairmont; maternal
great-grandmother, Mavis Martin; and several aunts,
uncles and cousins. |
In addition to his mother, he
was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Jarold
and Barbara Cornwell Cogar and great-grandparents, Robert
and May Cogar; his maternal grandfather, Leroy VanPelt and
great-grandfather, Gifford J. Martin.
His family has requested that memorial contributions be made
to the funeral home to help offset funeral costs: Frey Home
For Funerals, P.O. Box 895, Fairmont, WV 26555. Friends may
call from 1-8 p.m. today and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at
the Frey Home For Funerals (Historic Chapel) 320 Madison St.
