Shelly Ann Sallee, 47, passed away Monday at home after a
long battle with lung cancer. She was a lifelong Vallejo
resident. She attended Vintage High School in Napa.
Shelly was a bartender for eight years. She was a well-known
and loved bartender at Papa Joe's, Chris' Club and the
Popcorn Tavern for many years.
Shelly was small like a little frail kitten but had the
spirit of a lion. She was stubborn and hard-headed but she
was very loving and giving to all. She was well known in
Vallejo and had many friends.
Survivors include her longtime companion, Tommy G. Whitten;
daughter, Jamie D. Travis; son, Danny L. Travis; sisters,
Kim Matzen and Connie Knode; brothers, Michael Gomes, Dennis
Knode and Scott Van Pelt; grandchildren, Shalley Philbrook
and Donovan; and numerous cousins, nephews, aunts, uncles
and "nieces her loved to pieces."
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday at Skyview
Funeral Chapel, Vallejo. Inurnment will be held at All Souls
Catholic Cemetery, Vallejo.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American
Cancer Society, Solano Unit, 1125 Missouri St., Ste. 109,
Fairfield, CA 94533. |

On
Saturday, April 21, 2018, Norma June Wood, née Van
Pelt, returned to her heavenly home.
June was born in Marion County on June 22, 1934 to
Thaddeus A Van Pelt and Maryellen S Van Pelt, née
Bollinger. She was their second child but the oldest
daughter.
June met a dashing young soldier, Paul Loraine Wood
and married him on April 11, 1952. He was the son of
Charles C. Wood and Olive R. Wood, née Beal, of
Randolph County. When her parents passed away, many
of her brothers and sisters were too young to take
care of themselves so they lived with June and her
husband Paul L. Wood until they were old enough to
go out on their own. For this reason many of her
siblings called her mom. |
June's greatest joy in
life was caring for her family and her caring was a gift
cherished and felt by all.
She was preceded in death by her
parents and siblings, Buddy L. Van Pelt (Bud), Maryellen V.
Wood (Jenny) and her husband Francis D. Wood, Nancy L. Zink
and her husband Arthur W. Zink, William T. Van Pelt (Bill),
John E. Van Pelt (Johnny) and his wife Donna R. Van Pelt,
Judith A. Stewart (Judy) and her husband John E. Stewart,
and an infant brother Thaddeus A. Van Pelt Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; son, David R. Wood and
his wife Robin A. Wood née Bingamon; granddaughter, Chasity
J. Wood and her fiancé Sean Moore; grandson, Brandon P. Wood
and his wife Anna L. Wood née McMullen; great-granddaughter,
Penelope H. Wood; and loved ones and friends too numerous to
list.
A private family memorial will be held at a later time.

Francis Dale (Woody) Wood, 77,
of Fairmont, died suddenly at his home on Monday (March 3,
2008).
He was born Feb. 15, 1931, in Valley Head, a son of the late
Charlie C. and Olive R. Beal Wood. He was retired from the
City of Fairmont Street Department with 25 years of service.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in
the Korean War. He enjoyed gardening and taking care of his
dogs, Casper and Joey.
He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Lucinda
(Cindy) Cutlip, Paula Sue Commodore, and Anthony Yanero of
Fairmont; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Richard D.
and Delores Wood of Fairmont, Charles and Paula Wood of
Morgantown, and William D. Wood of Fairmont; one brother and
sister-in-law, Paul and June Wood of Fairmont; and one
sister, Winnie Ward of Elkins.
Also surviving are his grandchildren: Amy Pupek, Tiffany
Havrelesko, Eric Lawson, Angela Gum, Melissa Hoskinson,
Joseph Commodore, Emily Commodore, Zachary Commodore,
Jennifer Wood, Bethany Wood and Bailey Wood; and
great-grandchildren, Brady and Mya Pupek, Gavin and Katlyn
Havrelesko, Colton and Madison Gum, and Tanner and Hayley
Hoskinson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
wife, Mary Ellen (Jenny) VanPelt Wood; one daughter, Brenda
J. Yanero of Fairmont; sisters, Georgia Wood, Birdie
Workman, Stella Slamick, Leta Corigan, Alta Gay and Lena
Wood; and brothers, Howard Wood and John Wood.
Friends may call from 1-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 11 a.m.-1
p.m. Thursday and the hour of service at the Frey Home for
Funerals (Historic Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont.
Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens in
Fairmont. Full military honors will be rendered by the
Marion County Military Veterans Council. |

Lucinda Kay Cutlip, 65, of
Masontown. passed away July 27, 2021 at her home.
She was born in Fairmont, WV on April 30, 1956, the daughter
of the late Francis and Mary Ellen (Vanpelt) Wood.
Before retiring, she was employed as a Bookkeeper for the
West Virginia Department of Highways.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her
sister Brenda Yanero.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tiffany
Havrilesko and husband Keith, Eric Lawson, Amy Cooke and
husband Ty;
7 grandchildren: Gavin, Brady, Katlyn, Mya,
Isabella, Skylar and Aubrey; sister Paula Ingram and
brothers Richard Wood, Chuck Wood and William Wood. |
Honoring Lucinda’s wishes there will be no viewing but a
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorial Services will be held
Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the Mothe Funeral
Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA for Arthur
William Zink, Sr., age 69 of Perkinston, MS who died Monday,
July 10, 2006 in Perkinston, MS under the direction of Mothe
Funeral Home, Harvey, LA.
A native of Fairmont, West Virginia, he was a retired Chief
Petty Officer for the U.S. Navy. He worked as an Industrial
Property Management Specialist for NAVSEA in New Orleans,
LA. Mr. Zink was a resident of Bridge City, LA for 25 years.
He was a member of the Nine Mile Point Volunteer Fire
Department since 1995.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Vanpelt
Zink. Survivors include: his devoted wife, Jean Zink; his
devoted son, Arthur ""Billy'' Zink, Jr.; 1 devoted stepson,
Richard Everett; 1 devoted daughter, Lisa Everett; 1 devoted
son-in-law, James Cheeks; 1 granddaughter, Missica
Whitehead; 3 grandsons: Holden Zink, Joshua Whitehead and
Jason Whitehead; 1 great-grandson, Destin Gautro; and nieces
and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2006 from 2:00
p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Mothe Funeral Home, Harvey, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be
made to the American Cancer Society.

William
T. “Bill” Van Pelt, 77, of McCue Ave., Monongah, WV,
passed away Saturday evening in his residence.
He was born June 17, 1940 in Fairmont, WV, son of
the late Thaddeus and Mary Ellen Bolinger Van Pelt.
Mr. Van Pelt was a member of Monongah Baptist Church
in Monongah, WV. He served as a coal miner with
Eastern Gas and Fuel, Federal No. 1, with 21 years
of service. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. He later
worked at Eimco for 5 years and served as a security
guard for Monongalia General Hospital until
retirement.
Bill was a proud member of Acacia Lodge 157, AF&AM,
32nd Degree Mason, and a member of Scottish Rite
Bodies of Wheeling and Clarksburg, WV. |
He enjoyed his faith, all family activities, and
loved his children and grandchildren. Bill was an
avid golfer and enjoyed playing in various bowling
leagues.
Survivors include his 4
daughters and their spouses, MaryEllen and Jeff Brown of
Monongah, WV, Nancy and Jamie Howell of East Deer, PA, Karen
and Rob Richards of Monongah, WV, and Linda and Greg Donewar
of Fairmont, WV, 8 grandchildren, Chelsea Watkins of
Munhall, PA, Joshua and Amanda Brown of Monongah, WV, Jimmy
Howell of Fairmont, WV, Whitney and Dana O"Dell of Bingamon,
WV, Zachary and Kaitlyn Brown of Monongah, WV, Jessica
Huffman of Fairmont, WV, A.J. and Missy Richards of
Monongah, WV, and Cadence Howell of East Deer, PA, 7 great
grandchildren, Meredith and Chloe O’Dell, Dorothy and Carter
Richards, Cohen and ElaiaGrace Brown, and Sutton Brown, and
1 sister, Norma June and her husband Paul Wood of Fairmont,
WV.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, John, Buddy, and
Junior Van Pelt and 3 sisters, Jenny Wood, Nancy Zink, and
Judith Ann Stewart.
Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford
Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 2pm until 8pm on
Wednesday, 2pm until 8pm on Thursday, and 10am until 11am on
Friday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home
Friday morning, 10-6-2017, at 11am, with Pastor Karl Streyle
officiating. Committal services will follow at 3pm in the
Old Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville, WV. Members of
the Masonic Order, AF&AM, will hold ritualistic services at
the graveside. |
