Virginia Iris Smith, 89, of
Proctorville, Ohio passed away Thursday May 14, 2009 at
home.
She was born September 25, 1919 in Cabell County, WV,
daughter of the late Harold E. and Marie Hall Brooks. In
addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her
husband Thomas Reid Smith and son Thomas H. Smith.
She was a member of Teresa Chapter #257 OES Proctorville.
Virginia is survived by one son James R. Smith and his wife
Alice; daughter Diane Sue Wilson of Huntington;
daughter-in-law Sandy Smith of Proctorville; eight
grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two brothers Donald
Brooks of Huntington, WV and Pat Brooks of Florida.
A graveside service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday
April 16, 2009 at Rome Cemetery. There will be no
visitation. Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, Ohio is in
charge of arrangements. |

Smith, 61, of Proctorville, Ohio passed away Friday
August 10, 2007 in the Hospice House of Huntington.
He was born February 17, 1946 in Huntington, WV, son
of Virginia Smith of Proctorville and the late Reid
Smith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death
by his mother-in-law Maxine Ellis and godmother
Mabel Chinn.
Tom was a retired supervisor from Special Metals. He
was a member of Proctorville Masonic Lodge #550
F&AM, Huntington Elks, and American Legion Post #16.
He was a National Guard veteran. |
In addition to his mother, Tom
is survived by his wife Sandra Smith; two daughters Tammy
Riley and fiancé David Weinsweig, and Tina and Brent
Wilcoxon of Proctorville; one son T.H. and Tracy Smith of
Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren Aaren and Kyle Riley,
Trent and Ty Wilcoxon, and Zoie and Noah Weinsweig; and one
expectant granddaughter; father-in-law Denvil Ellis of
Chesapeake, Ohio; one brother Jim and Alice Smith of
Proctorville; one sister Diane “Sue” Wilson of Proctorville;
brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joe and Brenda Barnett of
Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and special
friends Carl and Bobby Ellis.
Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday August
12, 2007 at Hall Funeral Home by Pastor Mark Roach. Burial
will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6
to 8 p.m. Saturday August 11, 2007 at Hall Funeral Home
Proctorville, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made to Hospice of Huntington. Condolences may be expressed

other information. Brother Thomas Harold Smith was
born on Feb 17, 1946. It would be impossible for Diane to be
the birth daughter of Virginia 8 days later. Also, Diane does not
show up with this family in the 1950 Census. Therefore,

Diane Sue Wilson, 78, of
Huntington, WV, fell asleep in death with her family by her
side, on March 28, 2024.
She was born February 25, 1946, and grew up in Proctorville,
OH, with her loving parents, the late Virginia and Reid
Smith. Also preceding her in death are her brother, Tom
Smith; nieces, Melissa Smith and Elizabeth Homan, and former
husband, Joseph L. Wilson.
Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer (Thurston) Tabor;
sons, Joseph Wilson and Robert Wilson; brother, James
(Alice) Smith; sister-in-law, Sandy Smith; grandsons, Gavin
Wilson and Noah Tabor, and a host of additional family,
nieces, nephews, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024,
at 2:00 P.M. at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in
Proctorville, OH. There will be a visitation one hour prior
to services at 1:00 P.M.
She will be buried close to her mother and father in Rome
Proctorville Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the

having served two tours of duty in Viet Nam and was a member
of the American Legion Post 93. He was a retired manager.
He is survived by his brother and sister in law: David Lee
and Debbie Brooks. Nieces and nephews: Matt Robinson,

Sue retired after twenty-five plus years of service
as an Activities Director at Pulley's Care Center
and Madison Park Healthcare.
She enjoyed spending time with family, camping,
cooking and of course her passion, serving the
elderly.
Survivors include a daughter, Kellie Taylor-Freeman
and husband Heath of Proctorville, OH; a son, Matt
Robinson of Hamlin, WV; two brothers, William
"Billy" Brooks and David Brooks and wife Debbie, all
of Huntington, WV; |
two very-loved grandchildren,
Meredith Taylor and Taylor Robinson; one great grandson,
John Taylor; and several special nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Saturday,
February 4, 2023 at Beard Mortuary with Pastor Tim Porter
officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at White
Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. . Visitation will be

in WV with no luck. I searched on ancestry.com and
familysearch.org
Her grave marker and a genealogy book titled "Henry
Duke, Councilor, His Descendents and
Connections......." by Walter Garland Duke, confirm
her birth date of May 19, 1924.
Her grave marker has her last name as Wright which
means sometime between 1943 - 1957, she married
someone with the last name of Wright.
I checked death records in 1957 WV under Wright AND
first names Freda/Frieda and Colleen in all counties
with no luck. Perhaps death was in OH or
KY????? |

She was born in Huntington, West Virginia. She and
her husband moved to central Florida 30 years ago.
She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith.
She is remembered and will be dearly missed by her
husband of 67 years, Harold and her daughter, Pamela
Chastain of Mount Dora.
Friends are invited to gather for viewing on Sunday
from 4:00 - 5:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A
graveside ceremony will be held on Monday at 11:00
am at Lakeside Memory Gardens in Eustis. Condolences

He was born August 20, 1937 in Huntington, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and
Marie Hall Brooks; two sisters Virginia Smith and
Coleen Wright and two brothers William Brooks and
Pat Brooks.
Donald retired after 40 years of service with Orkin
Exterminating Service Co.
In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his
children, Donna Harper, Steve Brooks, Barbara (Jon)
Hamrick, Brenda (Colin) Wills and Carol Jackson;

nine grandchildren Matthew,
James, Jordan, Lakin, Kansas, Ethan, Lauren, Alex and Aaron
and three great grandchildren, Kairi, Sawyer and Aspen.
Reger Funeral Home, Huntington, is assisting the family with
arrangements. Funeral services will be private for the

Paul Michael Bentley, 75, of
Huntington, WV, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at
his residence.
He was born July 7, 1942 in Huntington a son of the late
Everett Bentley and Mary Midkiff Erskine. A brother, David
Bentley, also preceded him in death.
He was retired from Special Metals; was a U.S. Army Veteran
of Vietnam War; and was a member of Tristate Street Rods.
Survivors include: his wife, Connie Christian Bentley; a
daughter and son-in-law, Tara Bias and Rich Miller of
Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Carmon
Bentley of Paris, KY; four grandchildren, Jestine, Josh, and
Laurin Bentley all of Paris, KY and Gabe Miller of
Huntington; a cousin, Roger Clagg of Myrtle Beach, SC; a
sister-in-law, Sherry Christian of Hilliard, OH; nieces,
Kelly Koon of Lewisburg, WV, Kristy and Sarah Slate of North
Carolina, and Kathy Granger and Maddie Kohalmi of Hilliard;
and his dog, Abby.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, December
4, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Bob
Hogsett officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial
Park, Huntington, with Military Graveside Rites by Veterans
Honor Guard Post 16. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm
Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent
