  1930 - Census - For this Census, I am unable to locate Luella.  With the combination of her husband's death and the Depression,  she was most likely in a bad emotional place.  The two youngest children, Thelma and Benjamin, are living in a children's home in Akron.  Her eldest child John and third youngest child Edna Olive, are living in the Akron home of Ira Freeman as boarders.

Ronald Foster Tyler, 76, Topeka, Kansas, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019.

Ronald was born in Tulare, California, in October 1943, the son of John and Edith Foster Tyler.

He left California to join the United States Army in 1964. Ron worked on tanks and was a decorated marksman. He served two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief alongside his brother, John Tyler. After the Army, he worked for Boeing as a quality control inspector.
Ron married Carol Egy on July 20, 1968, in Valley Center Methodist Church in Valley Center, Kansas. Ron also worked at Cessna in the Experimental Department. After Cessna, he owned a Skelly Service Station in Wichita for several years.

Ron and Carol moved to Topeka in 1971 and Ron worked for the Army National Guard as a tech inspector. In the early 1970s, he was a mobile mechanic, opening Tyler Automotive and later his own shop in Topeka. Afterward, he worked for Car Doctor and local car dealerships before going to work for Goodyear in the early 1980s.

He retired from Goodyear in 1991. Early into his retirement, Ron bought a 1938 Chevrolet Master Deluxe and did a complete restoration. He won many awards for attending car shows throughout the Midwest.

Ron collected more than 66,000 unduplicated keychains, as well as coins, and diecast racecars. Ron loved NASCAR, racing, Wintergreen Tic-Tacs, and most of all, his family. He never knew a stranger. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Ron is survived by his wife, Carol of the home; sons, Dan (Trina) and Brad (Kelly); grandchildren, Sean (Shanna), Colton (Nicole), Lexie, Joey, John, and Jacob (Whitney); siblings, Benjamin Tyler, Jan Moritmer, and Nancy Schermer. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John Tyler, Sandra Duncan and Letisha Tyler.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 5, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 4211 NW Topeka Blvd, Topeka KS 66617. Burial to follow in Mission Center Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church or Helping Hands Humane Society, sent in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Helen B. Ambrose, 54, wife of James J. Ambrose, ranger at Cacapon State Park, died unexpectedly at her home Monday, September 27.

Born July 2, 1911 in Elkins, she was the daughter of Luella Hicks Tyler and the late Benjamin Tyler.

Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Mrs. June Tittle, Akron, Ohio; three sons, James R. Ambrose, Stuarts Draft, Va.; Eugene R. Ambrose, Oxon Hill, Md.; Thomas D. Ambrose at home; three brothers, John Tyler, Glendale, Calif.; James E. Tyler, Hawthorn, Calif.; Benjamin Richard Tyler, Newport Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Beck, Marina, Calif.; Mrs. Thelma Corcoran, Salinas, Calif. and six grandchildren.

The body will be removed from the Johnson Funeral Home Friday to the Oakland Methodist Church for services at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

James Robert “Bob” Ambrose, age 84, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Friday, February 27, 2015 at his home.

Born May 7, 1930 at Stotlers Crossroads, WV, he was the son of the late James Jacob and Helen Buford Tyler Ambrose.

He was of the Baptist faith. Bob attended the Morton Grove School and Berkeley Springs High School. He was licensed in Virginia, West Virginia, California and Colorado as an HVAC technician. He first worked with Elroy Roach and then with Hunter’s Hardware and Victor Products, all in Berkeley Springs. Bob was a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics Council #117 in Berkeley Springs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and cutting wood.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Julia Eileen Roach Ambrose, at home, his children, Sterling Eugene Ambrose and Ida Louise Thompson, both of Berkeley Springs and Patricia Corrine Burnett of Stuarts Draft, VA, two brothers, Richard Eugene Ambrose and Thomas David Ambrose, both of Berkeley Springs, three grandchildren, Shawn Thomas Bamber, Rebecca Sue Thompson and Robert Sterling Ambrose, all of Berkeley Springs, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, June Jo Ann Ambrose.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with the Rev. William C. Swope officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Ida Louise Thompson, age 67, of Berkeley Springs, WV, died on Sunday, October 29, 2017 at War Memorial Hospital in Berkeley Springs.

Born July 29, 1950 at home in Berkeley Springs, WV, she was the daughter of Julia Eileen Roach Ambrose of Berkeley Springs, and the late James Robert “Bob” Ambrose.

She was of the Methodist faith. Ida was a graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and had worked at Dog Pound Cycles, Gates Automotive and most recently as an in-home care giver with Senior Life Services of Morgan County, all in Berkeley Springs. She enjoyed cooking, coloring and loved to spend time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children, Shawn Thomas Bamber and his wife Shannon and Rebecca Sue Thompson and her companion Matt Bishop, all of Berkeley Springs, one brother, Sterling Eugene Ambrose of Berkeley Springs, four grandchildren, Desmond Robert “Bubba” Bamber, Roy James “RJ,” “Doolittle” McCoy, Bethany May “Doodlebug” McCoy and Morgan Lee “Momo” Bamber, all of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Rev. William C. Swope will officiate. Private burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Our beloved Mother, June J. Ambrose, 80, passed away on May 19, 2014.

She was born July 2, 1933 in Berkeley Springs, W. Va. to the late James and Helen Ambrose. Her first job in Akron was working as a 17 second milkshake maker at Skyway Drive-in. Mom also worked at Charles Mayer Studios for many years. She moved to Las Vegas, Nev. for 14 years and worked as a hostess; returning to Akron and retiring from the Acme store where she worked in various departments. Mom was a proud lifelong Yellow Dog Democrat. She loved serving her family, cooking for her girls on Thursday evenings. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed baking, gardening, and watching birds and squirrels.

June is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Mickey) Stevenson, Glenda Hammock, Patricia (Rory) Wineka, and Holly (Chuck) Magner; brothers, Bob (Julia), Dick, and Tom (Lisa) Ambrose; grandchildren, Michael, Jimmy, Andy, Becca, Chrissy (Jeff) Romans, and Stephen (Meghann); great-grandchildren, Michael III, Natalie, Christopher, Shawn, Samuel, Andrew, Lilyann June, and Lucas; cousin, Jimmy (Margaret) Tyler; many loving cousins, nieces and nephews; and much beloved dog, Rags.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. on Saturday, May 24, 2014 from 10 to 11 a.m., with service beginning at 11 a.m., Pastor Rory Wineka officiating. BERKELEY SPRINGS, West Virginia – The Nature Center at Cacapon Resort State Park has been renamed the Thomas D. Ambrose Nature Center, honoring retired Cacapon Supt. Tom Ambrose. "Tom's nearly 36-year career with state parks was recognized with this well-deserved honor," said West Virginia State Parks Chief Sam England. Ambrose retired Oct. 30, 2015.

Ambrose's career path at Cacapon actually spans more than 50 years. His father, James Ambrose, was a park ranger at Cacapon in 1944, seven years after Cacapon opened to the public. Tom's childhood memories include meeting many of the Civilian Conservation Corps workers and leaders who helped develop Cacapon and other West Virginia State Parks. He worked at Cacapon as a summer employee, serving as a stable boy, trail guide, lodge bellhop and summer lifeguard while attending the University of Akron and West Virginia University. During summer breaks from his teaching position in Northern Virginia following graduation, he served as naturalist and interpreter at Cacapon. Ambrose later became the assistant superintendent and then superintendent at Cacapon. Ambrose is also involved with the Cacapon State Park Foundation, which has assisted Cacapon with multiple projects and funding support over the course of his career.

The Ambrose Nature Center includes a collection of taxidermy mounts and displays that feature the natural surroundings, history and wildlife of West Virginia

Edna O. Satterfield, Salinas resident Edna O. Satterfield of Salinas died Friday at Nob Hill Health Care in San Francisco following a lengthy illness. She was 77.

Mrs. Satterfield was a native of Akron, Ohio, and lived in Salinas for 64 years. She was a retired civil service worker at SATTERFIELD Fort Ord in 1940.

Mrs. Satterfield is survived by two daughters, Cindy Wilson of Salinas and Cheryl Thorson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; her son, James Richmond Satterfield of lone; her brothers, Ben Tyler of Los Angeles and James Tyler of Gardena; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Thelma Lois Corcoran of Salinas died Sunday at Natividad Medical Center after a long illness. She was 64. N
A native of Ellet, Ohio. Mrs. Corcoran had lived in Salinas for 54 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Corcoran is survived by her sister. Edna Satterfield of Salinas; three brothers, John Tyler of Norwalk. James Tyler of Gardena and Ben Tyler of Newport Beach; and many nieces and nephews, including Cindy Wilson of Salinas.

Friends may call at the Healey Mortuary. Graveside services will begin at 1 p m. Friday at the Garden of Memories. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.

Obituary for Benjamin Richard Tyler
Born to the late Benjamin Johnston Tyler and Luella Hicks-Tyler. He was the youngest of 9 children, Edna Olive Tyler-Satterfield-Beck, Thelma Louis Tyler-Corcoran, John Lloyd Tyler, Helen Buford Tyler- Ambrose, James Edgar Tyler, Genevieve Tyler, Mildred Tyler, and Willard Tyler.

Was widowed to his late wife Josette Tyler, and was a father to Ace H. Thayer, Michelle Ring, Yvonne Hickey, and Leon Thayer.

He also had many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who loved him very much.

He was born in Ellet, Ohio, but had more early connections to Akron, Ohio. He moved to Salinas, CA as a child. He attended elementary and high school in Arroyo Grande. His small schoolhouse is preserved as a historical Landmark there, today.

We thank him for the 10 years of service in the Navy. He joined when he was 16 years old, just after Pearl Harbor. He always spoke fondly of his Navy days.
He was on several ships, the USS Tennessee, Gen. J.R. Brooke, USS Trego, USS Suisun, USS Neches, and the USS Newport. He transported US troops, and one of his jobs was to make fresh water out of salt water. Was always thankful for all the countries he was able to see while aboard the ships.

Was honored for 30 years of service with the Newport Beach Post office. He still enjoyed walking, even after he retired. Some of his Newport Beach friends and neighbors may recall him walking down Tustin Avenue on his semi-daily trips to Ralph's.Family from near and far miss him dearly. He was a quiet and kind man with a big heart. We are all thankful for the time we were able to spend with him.

He will be buried with his beloved wife Josette.

The services will be held on February 2, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
A private viewing will be available between 11: 00 am and 1:00 pm that same day for those who wish to attend.
