Eula Y. Dumire, 80, of Moundsville, WV died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at home.

She was born March 6, 1935 in Tucker County, WV, daughter of the late Delbert and Greta Flynn Sturm.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husbands, Roy Vanscoy, John Border & Richard “Pete” Dumire; a sister, Susie Craft; sons, Earl and Melvin Vanscoy; half-brother, Kenneth Sturm; granddaughter, Deedra Wyatt and a great-nephew, Derek.

Harmon.Survivors include four children, Alvin (Charlotte) Vanscoy of Parsons, WV, Reva (Gerry) Wyatt, Debi (JB) Kimble and John “Jay” Border all of Moundsville;
 eleven granddaughters; five grandsons; eleven great-granddaughters; seven great-grandsons; one sister, Mary Lou (Enoch) Crowl of Davis, WV; three nieces; two nephews; four great-nieces; one great- nephew; one great-great-niece; five great-great-nephews and one great-great-great-niece.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10am until the time of service at 1pm with Pastor Bill Henthorn, II, officiating at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville, WV.
Private interment at the convenience of the family.

Mary Lou (Sturm) Crowl, 82, of Davis, West Virginia passed away at her home surrounded by her family on June 25, 2020. She was born July 29, 1937 in Hambleton, West Virginia, a daughter to the late Greta Mae and Delbert Earl Sturm.

She is survived by one son, Ronald E. Hebb, Davis, West Virginia, three daughters, Hazel C. Dragovich and husband Stanley, Leadmine, West Virginia Patricia Collins and husband James, Rawlings, Maryland, and Beverly LeMasters and husband Brian, Moundsville, West Virginia, six grandchildren, Stephanie Poling and husband Robert, Neil Dragovich, Anika Cutter, Melissa Collins, Caitie Bailey, and Rebecca LeMasters, seven great-grandchildren, Jamie Arman, Jacob Dumire, Eli Lawrence, Autumn McGee, Marcus Cutter, Ryan Cutter, Kiya Winters, and Nevaeh Dragovich, and one great-great-grandaughter, Anna Lynne Faith Arman.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Crowl was preceded in death by her husband on January 3, 2017, Frederick Myron Crowl, Sr., whom she married April 20, 1988, two sisters, Eula (Teenie) Dumire and Susan M. Craft, and one grandson, Derek Wayne Harman. She was the last surviving member of her immediately family.

Mary Lou worked in several different industries throughout her life and was well known in the community. She took great pride in caring for her home and family. She was a member the FOE #936 from 1978-2017.

Friends will be received at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home, Sunday, June 28, 2020 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held, 1:00 pm, Monday, June 29, 2020 at Hinkle-Fenner Funeral Home with Rev. Justin Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery. Born April 19, 1906, in Hamilton [stet], W.Va., daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (Daft) Sturm. Also preceded in death by her husband, Elmer U. Caton, Jan. 7, 1966.

Survived by a son, Elmer E. Caton, Boynton; daughters, Betty L. Shumaker, Orchard Lake, Mich., and Bertha "Trudy" Sines, Somerset; 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker.

Friends were received Sunday and will be received Monday at Newman Funeral Home Inc., Salisbury, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. David Jack officiating. Interment, Salisbury Cemetery.

Elmer Eugene Caton, 80, Boynton, died Dec. 19, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.

Born Sept. 18, 1928, in Hamilton [stet], he was the son of the late Elmer U. and Susan M. (Sturns) Caton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel M. (Durst) Caton.

Surviving are three sons, Elmer E. Caton and wife, Roxann, Gene L. Caton and wife, Sandra and Rick J. Caton and wife, Diane, all of Meyersdale; one daughter, Beverly S. Elicker and husband, Jeffrey, Halifax; one sister, Bertha Sines, Somerset; 10 grandchildren, Christopher E. Caton and wife, Mary, Chad E. Lytle and wife, Michelle, Jason A. Lytle and wife, Jennifer, Tina Gray and husband, Mark, Elizabeth C. Caton, Alex C. Caton, Max D. Caton, Hope M. Cochran, Laura Cochran and Jeff Elicker; and three great-grandchildren, Austin Gene Lytle, Samantha Lytle and Jackson Gray.

He was a retired construction worker and miner. Member of Shunk Run Hunting Club and associate member of Salisbury American Legion and VFW. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Newman Funeral Home Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Highway, Salisbury, where a service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. Interment Salisbury Cemetery.

Survived by his wife, Sandra "Sandy" K. (Hemmings) Caton; and three children: Tina, wife of Mark Gray, Stephenson, Virginia; Chad Lytle and his wife Michelle, Meyersdale; and Jason Lytle, Meyersdale. A brother of: Elmer Caton and his wife Roxanna, Meyersdale; Rick Caton and his wife Diane, Meyersdale and Beverly, wife of Jeffrey Elicker, Halifax, PA.

Jack is survived by his wife, Lauri Bowser (Arndt), their two rescue dogs Lexi and Opal, sisters Sharon Bowser and Melody Nader (Bowser), nephews Dustin (wife Michele) Nader and Leith (wife Sarah) Nader and step-father Lynwood Shoemaker.

Bertha “Trudy” Ilean (Caton) Sines, of Somerset, PA. died peacefully, Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Siemons Lakeview Manor at the age of 83.

Trudy was born on May 23, 1936 in Hamilton [stet], WV and lived her early years in Boynton, PA.

She is survived by sons, Kenneth Eugene (wife Jo Ellen (Trimpey)) of Columbia, MD, William Allen (wife Lori (Hileman)) of Stoystown, PA and Stephen Everett (wife Tammy (Friedline)) of Shanksville, PA and daughter, Cheryl Anne (husband Jim Hicks) of Sparks, NV. Grandchildren include Billy, Shane, Tiffany, Justin, Jeffrey, Brandi, Scott, Reba and Cody and 4 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband William Earl Sines; parents Elmer U. Caton and S. Marie (Sturms) Caton; brother Elmer E. Caton and sister Betty L. (Caton) Shumaker.

Trudy and family traveled the USA while husband, Bill, served a 20-year career in the USAF. She participated actively with the American Red Cross and raised the children during those years. Upon retiring and settling down in Somerset, PA, Trudy worked as a cook in various locations including the high school, County Head Start program and the Ramada Inn. For many years, she was the friendly voice at the Marker and Stanczyk Beauty Salon. She enjoyed the out of doors, travel and time with her kids, extended family and grandchildren. Trudy was known as “Mom” to many in the community.

Family will welcome friends and family between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 3rd, at the Miller Funeral Home, 555 Tayman Ave., Somerset, PA, followed by a service at 1 p.m. Internment will be at the Salisbury I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Salisbury, PA immediately after the service. We wish to thank the caregivers at Siemons for their continued caring and love shown to Trudy.

Russell “Boz” Lewis Hamner, 68, of Thomas, died April 5, 2003, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Hambleton, a son of the late Russell Lewis Hamner and Florence M. Sturms Pase. He is survived by his first wife, Barbara A. Fink Shepard and his current wife, Sheila J. Bennett Hamner, Thomas (married Feb. 20, 1969).

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Hamner, Thomas, and Steven (and Karen) Hamner, Bel-Alton, MD; three daughters, Patricia (and James) Harman, Harman, Pamela Shepard, Newport News, VA, and Tracy Hamner, Thomas; three brothers, James Pase, Thomas, Duane Pase, Clinton, MD, and David H. Pase, Thomas; two sisters, Joanne Harper, Thomas, and Eloise Udovich, Thomas; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Carole Zorb; a brother, Donald Pase; and a nephew, David H. Pase Jr.

Mr. Hamner was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He worked as a construction foreman for Interstate Engineers and retired as a plant foreman from Laurel Run Mining Co. in 1990. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aries 936 — Davis, and American Legion, Thomas, Mt. Top Hunting Club and Buffalo Hunting Club.

Friends were received at Hinkle Funeral Home, where funeral services were held at Hinkle Funeral Chapel April 7, with the Rev. Jeff Winter officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Matthew Steven “Matt” Jennings, 37, a resident of Hambleton, passed from this life Friday, July 26, 2013. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.

Born Friday, April 2, 1976 in Elkins, Matt was the son of Steven Jennings (Sharon) of Kerens and Patricia Ann Hamner Harman (Jim) of Yulee, FL. On June 4, 2005 in St. George, he was married to the former Angela Denise Pifer who survives.

Others left to cherish Matt’s memory are his two daughters, Cassandra (Cassie) and Madalyn (Maddie) Jennings, his brother Paul Jennings and wife, Jessica of Parsons, his sister Missy Jones and husband, David of Xenia, OH, his four step-sisters, Miranda Reckart of St. George, Billie Poling and husband, Joey of Nestorville, Misty Bolyard and husband Scott of Hambleton, and Dreama Hinton of Harman, grandparents, Barbara Shepard and husband, Jerry of Pierce and Sheila Hamner of Thomas, six nieces and eight nephews.

Preceding Matt in death was his grandfather, Russell Hamner and grandparents Carl and Ina Jennings and one niece, Brook Jennings.

Matt was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1994. He had worked as a welder for Mineral Fabrication until becoming disabled in 2012. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and shooting guns. He also enjoyed and became known for refinishing rifles and shotguns. He was a Methodist by faith having attended the Davis United Methodist Church and the First United Methodist Church of Parsons.

Visitation will be held at the Summerfield Funeral Home in Parsons on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, from 3PM until 5PM, the funeral hour. The Reverend Adam Snyder will officiate and Matt’s request for cremation will then be honored.

Michael Lewis Hamner, age 53 died Jan. 11, 2011.

He was born Sept. 6, 1956 at Morgantown, WV, son of the late Russell (Boz) Hamner and Barbara (Fink) Shepard, who survives in Pierce WV.

Surviving are his step-father Jerry Shepard of Pierce, WV and step-mother Sheila Hamner of Thomas, WV.  Four sisters and one brother, Patty Harman and her husband Jim of Yulee, FL., Pam Shepard of Newport News, VA., Steve Hamner and his wife Karen of Bel Alton, MD., Dawn Jean Hunt of Pierce, WV., and Tracy Hamner of Davis, WV. Mike had several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

He graduated from Mountaineer High Schoo with the Class of 1975. He was employed at North Point Coal Mines before becoming disabled. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, and walking along the Blackwater River. He loved family reunions and enjoyed being with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to your local charity in his memory. Family and friends are invited to a gravesite service, Saturday Sept. 29, 2012 at Rosehill Cemetery in Thomas, WV at 2 PM with the Rev. Pat Cassidy officiating. Mr. Pase was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed as a coal miner for Laurel Run followed by Robinson Run. He was a member of Mountain Top Hunting Club. He enjoyed reading about history and working on cars.

  After Margaret marries Cecil Bush, she drops off the map.  There are no online family trees with any information that is verifiable.  There are a number of family trees that have Margaret's death as Jun 20, 1940, Cumberland, Allegany Co., MD.  However, there are no Maryland records available online that can confirm this date.  Those who have this date in their family tree, offer no source.

As for her husband Cecil.  There is one possible Cecil Bush from a WWII Registration record who was born Dec 19, 1904 in Douglas, Tucker Co., WV.  Searching through online records, I could not confirm if this was or was not the same Cecil Bush.

 CHARLES BRYAN STURMS, age 53 years, a native of Parsons, WV and more recently a resident of Key West, Fl departed this life Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at his home. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

He was born Saturday, May 9, 1959 at Fairfax, VA, a son of the late Robert William and Shirley Ann Lanham Sturms.

Surviving are one brother, Robert Steven "Steve" Sturms and companion Donna Marie Mullunnex; Charlie's companion, Tom Pemberton of FL; one nephew Steven "Matthew" Sturms and wife Lisa of Michigan and four great nieces and nephews, Jacob, Donovan, Collin and Lila, all of Michigan; two uncles, Bob Sturms and wife Dorothy of VA and Jack Sturms and wife Mary Ann of FL.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1978. He had worked at Campbell's Meat Market for years. He was a former employee of the Davis Memorial Hospital in the Physical Therapy Dept. He worked at Big Ruby's Guest House in Key West, FL, as the Assistant Hotel Manager until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his two dashunds, Jake and Jackson. He was an avid cook and enjoyed home repairs and gardening.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 1 PM to 2 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Sunday at 2 PM. Pastor Allen D. Crosten will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
