Mary Yokum, 77, a former resident of Huttonsville and a resident of Valley Bend, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Reading, Pa., the daughter of the late Samuel and Jenny Burnett Mazzurco.
She was married to John Nephi Yokum Sr., who preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Paul David (Mary) Huffman of Valley Bend; five sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Rose) Potts, Council Bluff, Mo., Catherine Guthrie, Ester Mazzurco, Gloria Flynn and Mrs. Wallace (Elizabeth) Woods, all of Baltimore, Md.; six grandchildren, Mrs. Robbie (Sarah) Serrett, Mrs. Greg (Patricia) Haddix, Michael Huffman and wife, Penny, Heather Band and husband, Doug, John Nephi Yokum III, whom Mrs. Yokum adopted, and his wife, April, and Samuel Yokum; 13 great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Anthony and Eric Davis, Andrew Serrett, Ashley, Jacob and Joseph Yokum, Steven Hight, Cortney Haddix, Abigail Haddix, Quincy, Jalin and Kailob Band; and three step great-grandchildren, Shalynn Burge and Nick and Phil Haddix.

Also preceding her in death were one son, John Nephi Yokum Jr.; four sisters and one half-brother.

Mrs. Yokum, along with her husband, owned and operated a Sinclair Service Station in Huttonsville for several years and was employed by Reidbord Brothers and Bata Shoe prior to her retirement.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home chapel with Bishop Lynn Muhlestein officiating. Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mary Yokum.

Mary Margaret "Peggy" Yokum Huffman, 71, a resident of Valley Bend, passed peacefully from this life Sunday, June 3, 2018, at Talbott Personal Care Home in Belington and under the care of West Virginia Caring.

Peggy was born Wednesday, September 25, 1946, in Elkins, a daughter of the late John Nephi Yokum and Mary Mazzurco Yokum. On June 14, 1969 in Elkins, she was united in marriage to Paul David Huffman who survives. Their marriage was sealed at the Temple in Salt Lake City and they had celebrated nearly forty-nine years of marriage.

Also left to cherish her memory are two children; Patricia Kay Haddix and husband, Greg of East Dailey and Michael David Huffman and wife, Penny of Valley Bend,

eleven grandchildren; Kimberly Davis, Anthony Davis, Eric Davis, Andrew Serrett, Isaac Serrett, Steven Hight, Courtney Haddix, Abigail Haddix, Nick Haddix, Phil Haddix, and Shalynn Burge,
eight great grandchildren; Ella Haddix, Alyssa Haddix, Avery Haddix, Ivy Haddix, Liam Serrett, Maddox Serrett, Alayna Shrader, and Bryce Burge, and nine special nieces and nephews.

Preceding Peggy in death besides her parents was one daughter, Sarah Ann Serrett and one brother, John Nephi “Butch” Yokum II. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Peggy was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1965. Upon graduation, she went to work for Coastal Lumber Company before she served the church for eighteen months with the Northwestern States Mission that includes, Washington, Oregon, and part of Idaho. She was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress and short order cook at G.C. Murphys. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, and making blankets. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she was very involved serving as early morning seminary Sunday School teacher and piano player. She had an infectious smile and a heart for her church family.

Visitation will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Beverly Thursday from 6P-8P. A funeral service will be conducted at the church Friday, June 8, 2018, at 11:00 am. Bishop Greg Haddix will be the Presider and interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville.

Sarah Ann Serrett, 42, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life, Friday, January 4, 2013 at Ruby Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on December 26, 2012.

Sarah was born Thursday, July 23, 1970 in Elkins, a daughter of Paul David Huffman and Mary Margaret Yokum Huffman. On August 3, 2002 she was married to Robbie Serrett who survives. They enjoyed ten years of marriage.

Also left to cherish her memory are five children: Kimberly Nicole Davis of Dailey, Anthony Wayne Davis of Little Creek, VA, Eric Nathaniel Davis, Andrew Vincent and Isaac Paul Serrett all of Valley Bend
one sister: Patricia Kay Haddix and husband Gregory L. of Dailey, one brother: Michael David Huffman and wife Penny of Valley Bend, nephews Steven Hight and Victor Serrett, and nieces Courtney and Abigail Haddix, Shalynn Burge and Alyssa Sutton.

Preceding Sarah in death were her grandparents, John N. and Mary Yokum of Huttonsville, and Paul H. and Alta Mae Huffman of Dailey, and her uncles John N. (Butch) Yokum, Jr. and Robert (Bob) William Huffman.

Sarah was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School. She enjoyed playing the piano. She was a good Mom, kind hearted, never knew a stranger and had compassion for all.

A visitation will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 11:00am at the church. Bishop Paul D. Huffman will officiate and interment will follow at the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville. The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Sarah Ann Serrett.

Michael “Mike” David Huffman, 49, a resident of Valley Bend passed from this life Monday, January 8, 2024, at Davis Medical Center following a brief battle with cancer.

Mike was born Saturday, November 16, 1974, in Elkins, a son of Paul David Huffman and the late Mary Margaret “Peggy” Yokum Huffman. On November 11, 2000, he was married to the former Penelope “Penny” Wilmoth, who survives. The had celebrated twenty-three years of marriage.
Also left to cherish Mike’s memory is his daughter, Shalynn Dawn Burge of Huntington, his sister, Patricia Haddix and husband, Greg, three grandchildren, Alayna Shrader, Bryce Burge, Adalyn Reign Burge, his mother-in-law, Barbara S. Wilmoth of Belington, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Alma Marie Yokum Howard, 69, of Glen Burnie, Md., passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Harbor Hospital.

She was born June 11, 1934, in West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Yokum Sr. and Blanche May Riffle Yokum.

On May 12, 1955, she was united in marriage to the former Lambert T. Howard, who preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 2003.

Alma is survived by one daughter, Nancy Brown of Marydell, Md.; and two sons, John M. Howard and Steven Howard, both of Maryland.  Also surviving are two sisters, Florence Adams of Elkins and Mona Seigel of Maryland.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jeffrey McCelroy, Leanna Howard and Chelsey Brown; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents were one son, David Howard; five sisters, May, Mable Yokum, Virginia Wyatt, Gladys Reda and Betty Holfeltz; and five brothers, John Nephi, Thomas Jr., Elmer E., Martin L. and Loye Lee.

Alma was employed as a cook and also as a salesperson in a large department store in Maryland.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints.  She loved reading the Bible and cooking, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Friends were received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel after 6 p.m. Nov. 6. Graveside services will be at noon Nov. 7 at the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville. Elder William Adams will preside and dedicate the grave. Interment will follow. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements for Alma M. Howard. From 12 Nov 2003.

John M. Howard, 60, a resident of Mill Creek, passed from this life Wednesday, January 29, 2020, at home.

John was born Friday, December 11, 1959, in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Lambert Howard and Alma Yokum Howard.

Left to cherish John’s memory is one daughter, Liana De Pasquale of England, one sister, Nancy Jane Brown and companion, Bennett Jopp, of Delaware, two brothers, Steven Howard of Mill Creek, and Charles Glenn Brown and fiancé Millie Bramble, two nephews, Jeffrey Scott McElroy Jr. and Andrew Charles Young, one niece, Chelsea Marie Brown,
two great-nephews, Michael Steven Young and Andrew Young, Jr., and two special cousins, John Nephi Yokum III and Samantha Yokum.

Preceding him in death besides his parents was one brother, David Howard,

John was a graduate of Andover High School and had served with the United States Air Force. He had been employed by Martin Marietta based in Baltimore, MD. He was a graduate of Baltimore Culinary College and had attended Pastry School in Ireland. He loved to cook and was a certified chef. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Monday, February 3, 2020, from 11 am until 1 pm, the funeral hour. The family’s request for cremation will then be honored.

Mona Louise Yokum Seigel passed on to Heaven Thursday morning, July 23, 2015.

She was born August 8, 1937 near Huttonsville, WV to the late Thomas Yokum and the late Blanche Mae Riffle Yokum.

She grew up as one of 11 children on a farm in Huttonsville West Virginia. She loved school and graduated as a top student from Tygart's Valley High School.
Following graduation, Mona bravely ventured on her own to Baltimore where she attended secretarial school and went on to work as a legal secretary for Judge David Ross in Baltimore City, Md. In an age before computers and internet, countless young Baltimore District Attorneys and Defense Lawyers received their initial legal training from Mona who was the organizational glue that kept the court running. She retired after 40 years to tend to her beautiful flower and vegetable garden and loving pets Brandy, Moppet, Molly and Spencer before moving to Florida to be near her family.

Mona was a generous, kind, funny, loving and wonderful mother and grandmother who served as a shining example of grace, strength and bravery for her entire family.

She is survived and missed by her daughters Debra Dingle and Valerie Paul, her sons in law John Dingle and Jordan Paul and her three beautiful grandchildren Summer Dingle, Benjamin Paul and Harrison Paul who will never forget her, along with her precious Yorkie dog Spencer. She never ran out of funny stories of growing up on a farm with so many siblings and will be missed dearly.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. Interment will follow. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mona Louise Yokum Seigel.

Florence Ann Yokum Adams, 73, passed on into the spirit world Saturday evening, July 6, 2013 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia following complications from a heart attack.

She was born January 28, 1940 near Huttonsville, West Virginia to the late Thomas Yokum and the late Blanche Mae Riffle Yokum.

She is survived by one sister, Mona Seigel of Wellington, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
She married William J. Adams, Jr. for time and all Eternity on Friday the 13th of December 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter­-day Saints. They had four children: Cynthia, Beth Ann, W. Jared and Thomas, one daughter-in-law: Melissa Macleod of Magna, Utah and one grandson, the apple of her eye: Thomas Juel Adams.

She graduated from Tygart Valley High School and earned a Registered Nurse certificate from Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She spent a year and a half serving as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Western States Mission in Washington State and Idaho. Upon her return she began a forty year career in nursing and retired from LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She always had a bright smile, cheerful laugh, open heart and many friends. We will miss her very much.

Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2013 and 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Friday, July 12, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints near Beverly. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, July 12, 2013 at the church with Bishop Ralph Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Florence Ann Yokum Adams.
