Funeral services were held Monday at the Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg for Samuel M. Kittle, 89 who died Friday in Camden-Clark Hospital. The Rev. Lawrence Morris officiated with burial in Independence Cemetery.

Born in Jackson County, he was a son of the late Moses and Frances Carez Kittle. A retired Viscose employee, he attended the Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Loren B. Kittle, Parkersburg and J. C. Kittle of DeLand, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Roberta Farrar of Elizabeth and Mrs. Coral Jones of Parkersburg; one sister, Mrs. Anna Currey of Sandyville; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Lucy M. Kittle, two sons and two daughters.

Mrs. Reva Chancey Kittle, 68, of Lubeck, died at the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon.

She was born in Roane County, daughter of the late Calvary and Rose Staats Chancey.

She is survived by her husband, J. C. Kittle; a son, Jack, of Moundsville; a daughter, Mrs. Shelia Schopmeyer of Fullerton, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and five sisters. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Vaughan Funeral Home with burial in the Independence Cemetery in Sandyville. The Rev. David Burke officiated.
  1976 - 1994 - At some point James was living in same town as daughter in Mckinney, TX, according to last address used on SS death index.  Some family trees have his death in McKinney, TX. This may be true. However, he does not appear in the Texas Death Index as having died there.

  2006 - Died before 2006? Not mentioned in the obit of step-mother Zora Palmer Kittle, while Sheila WAS mentioned.
  I am wondering if Jackie is dead or still alive.  With all of the marriages that I was able to find, I suspect something was wrong with him.  Alcoholic? Anger Issues? Criminal?  I suspect that there were other marriages or relationships with records not yet available online.

If he was dead, there would have been a record in the SSDI because they would need to report the death to receive SS benefits for the minor children. I am unable to locate his death in the SSDI.

Services "for Richard W. Schopmeyer, 53, of McKinney are set for 4 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church Chapel in McKinney and for 2 p.m. Thursday at Zion United Church of Christ in Poland, Ind. Burial will follow at Zion Cemetery in Poland, Ind.

Local visitation will be 7 to 9 tonight at Turrentine-JacksonMorrow Funeral Home. Visitation also will be held at Zion United Church of Christ Thursday from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m.

Schopmeyer died Saturday at Medical Center.

He was born Mach 30, 1944, in Brazil, Ind. to James Monroe Schopmeyer and Ruth Elizabeth Hoffa Schopmeyer. He married Shelia Ann Kittle Feb. 20, 1965, in Valdosta, Ga. He was a graduate of Van Buren High School in 1962 and attended the University of South Florida. Schopmeyer was a computer consultant, a member of First Baptist Church of McKinney and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Shelia Schopmeyer of McKinney; one son, Jeff Schopmeyer of McKinney; two daughters, Tammy Dusek of Frankfurt, Germany and Cynthia Moses of Monett, four grandchildren, Britney Dusek, Ryan Dusek, Amber Moses and Cody Moses; his mother, Ruth Schopmeyer of Center Point, Ind. and two brothers, David Schopmeyer of Center Point, Ind. and Ivan Schopmeyer of Poland, Ind. Services are under the direction of Moore Funeral Home of Brazil, Ind. Local services are under the direction of Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Directors.

Clarence P. Jones, 68, of 901 Rayon drive, Parkersburg, W.V. a former Zanesville resident, died Saturday evening in a Parkersburg hospital following a long illness.

Surviving are his widow, Coral; two sons, Darrell and Carroll; two brothers, Alfred of Lorain and Leroy of Boggs road: four sisters, Mrs. Jenny Quirk of Flint, Irene Eaton of Newark, Mrs. Marjorie Lashley of 1127 Eppley avenue and Mrs. Grace Sass of Alexandria, Va.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Kimer Funeral Home in Parkersburg.

Kenneth C. Jones, 51, of Parkersburg, after an extended illness, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2011, at his home.

Kenny was born Dec. 3, 1959, in Parkersburg, son of the late Darrell Dwight Jones Sr. and Mary V. (Dowler) Jones.

Kenny loved his family and friends very much and was a true sports enthusiast, an avid fan of WVU, PSHS, Cincinnati Reds, Bengals and NASCAR. He also especially enjoyed fishing and the outdoors. Spending time with his grandson was the highlight of his life.

A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he was a skilled and licensed contractor and was also licensed in asbestos removal, prior to becoming disabled. He attended Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Park Avenue and was a true Christian through his faith.

He is survived by his siblings, Kathy Stevens of Anderson, Ind., and Karen Bradley, Dwight Jones (Vickie) and Leon Jones, all of Parkersburg. Also surviving are two daughters, Angela Jones and Christina Jones and grandson, Tristin Jones, all of Parkersburg; and several aunts, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Jones; paternal grandparents, Coral (Kittle) and Clarence P. Jones of Parkersburg; maternal grandparents, Andrew and Chloe (Ruble) Dowler; brother-in-law, William (Ed) Bradley; uncle, Carroll D. Jones; and special nephew, Dana D. Jones.

A memorial service is planned at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Seventh-Day Adventist Church on Park Avenue.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dialysis Center of Belpre for the wonderful care they provided and to Kimes Funeral Home.

Carroll D. Jones, age 68, of Lancaster, passed away at his home surrounded by his family Saturday, August 20, 2005.

A graduate from Parkersburg H.S. (WVa.) class of 1954, he served four years in the U.S. Navy before entering West Virginia University. At WVU, he received the Erwin Award in Accounting and was on the Deans list in the College of Commerce. He was Secretary of Beta Alpha Psi, National Accounting Fraternity: a member of Alpha Kapa Psi, Professional Business Fraternity, and of Beta Gamma Sigma, National Business Honorary, completing his four-year degree in just over two and a half years.

Carroll was an avid WVU football fan. After graduating from WVU in 1960, he joined the General Electric Company in its business-training program. His last job with GE was Supervisor of Customer Accounting, government accounting and taxes. In 1967 he moved from GE to Ohio Power in Canton, Ohio, as a Construction Accountant, and later served a dual function as Supervisor for Special Contracts section of Ohio Power and as the AEP System Construction Coordinator. Carroll later moved to AEPs Fuel Supply Department where he took the position of Chief Accountant, centralizing an accounting system for AEPs diverse coal mining and transportation operations. After nearly 28 years with the American Electric Power System, he retired in 1996.

Carroll was an active member of the Lithopolis United Methodist Church where he served on several committees.

Son of the late Clarence P. & Coral Kittle-Jones, he is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Ellen, and children Gregory A. (Kathleen), Gwen A, (Tim) Bonham, and Eric S. (Jill) Jones; grandchildren Kayla & Tyler Jones, Alex & Renee Bonham, and Grant Jones.

Friends may visit 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the DWAYNE R. SPENCE FUNERAL HOME, 650 West Waterloo Street, Canal Winchester. A special public viewing will be at 10 a.m. prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday at the Lithopolis United Methodist Church, 80 North Market Street, Lithopolis with Pastor Ben Foulk officiating. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Mill Road, Lancaster.

Carroll was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed. We are comforted by the knowledge that he is now with the Lord. We love you POPPY.

Mary Ellen Jones, age 84, formerly of Lancaster, passed away peacefully at Inniswood Village in Westerville on Tuesday January 19, 2021. She was born in Grafton, WV on September 23, 1936 to the late Alden B. and Pauline V. Dunham Carpenter. A 1954 graduate of Grafton High School and Morgantown Business College followed by a successful career as a wonderful homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Carroll D. Jones, with whom she loved attending WVU football games and trips to warm and fun places, creating wonderful memories with family, relatives and special friends.

Many friends were her neighbors, from her church, or whoever she met at the grocery store. She adored her five grandchildren who will miss her immensely.
Her smile, laugh, and wit, sprinkled with a dash of sarcasm, will be missed but not forgotten.

Also preceded in death were her sisters Loretta Cockrell and Virginia Floyd.

Mary Ellen is survived by her children Gregory A. (Stephanie) Jones, Gwen A. (Tim) Bonham, and Eric S. (Jill) Jones; grandchildren Kayla and Tyler Jones, Alex and Renee Bonham, and Grant Jones.

With respect to the current environment, the family will have private memorial and graveside services.

In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Lithopolis United Methodist Church or to your local Alzheimers association.

We are comforted in knowing that Mary Ellen is with the Lord, her husband, and loving family members and friends in Heaven. We love you Gammy.

Roberta Faith Farrar, 95, of Washington, W.Va., passed away on September 15, 2014 at The Willows Center.

She was born March 10, 1919, in Jackson Co., W.Va., the daughter of the late Samuel M. and Lucy Burke Kittle.

Roberta was a retired loan officer at Community Savings and Loan. She was formerly a member of Broadway Baptist Church and later attended Faith Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Judith D. (Bill) White of Parkersburg and Carolyn (Bill) Bock of Washington, W.Va.; one son, Robert J. (Sue) Farrar of Elkins, W.Va.; grandchildren, Susan (Phillip) O'Reilly, Neil (Christy) Farrar, John Farrar, Beth White, Kelly (David) Monk, Patricia (Thad) LaBarre, Carol (David) Waddell, Jeff (Alex) White, Chris (Stephanie) White, Doug (Cheryl) Bock, Leanne (David) Adams, and Mark Bock; 24 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glenn Farrar; one sister, Coral Jones; and three brothers, Ernest, Clair and Loren Kittle.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St., South Parkersburg .Interment will follow at Independence Cemetery in Jackson Co. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home.

Carolyn "Sue" Cheatham Farrar, 74, a resident of Elkins, passed from this life Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She had been in her usual health, and death was unexpected.

Sue was born on Monday, July 13, 1942 in Parkersburg a daughter of the late Arnold Cheatham and Mary Ellen Gallaspie Cheatham. On August 11, 1958 in Ravenswood, she married Robert Joe "Bob" Farrar who survives. They had celebrated fifty-seven years of marriage.

Others left to cherish Sue's memory are three children, Susan O'Reilly and husband, Phillip of Kansas City, MO, Neil Farrar and wife, Kristine of Wiscasset, ME, and John Patrick Farrar of Palm Springs, CA

Cheatham and wife, Debbie of Peachtree City, GA, four grandchildren, Jonathan O'Reilly, Sarah Farrar, Ashley Cleveland, and Kathryn Farrar, four great grandchildren, Miles Crew O'Reilly, Aniston Reilly Cleveland, Jude Alexander Cleveland and Emerson Rose O'Reilly, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Sue graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1962 and then from Christ for the Nations Institute in 1981 which is an interdenominational Christian Bible college near Dallas, TX. In 1995, she graduated from massage therapy school and was still working as a massage therapist for Dr. Scott Harris in Elkins. She had served as co-pastor with her husband, Bob, in churches in Rockwall, TX, Waco, TX, Warrensburg, MO, Kansas City, MO, and Elkins, WV. She had served as past president of the Elkins Ministerial Association, had been currently serving on the board of the WV Children's Home, and served in the Rock Ministries Food Pantry. An avid reader and great seamstress, she loved going on vacation and having anything to do with the beach. She was a member of the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center.

Sue donated her body to the WV School of Medicine. A visitation will be held at the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center on Friday, August 5, 2016 where friends will be received from 1p until 2p. At 2p, Bishop Jamie Estep will officiate a Celebration of Sue's Life. Memorial contributions may be made in Sue's honor to Christmas at The Children's Home, c/o EFWC, 1402 Taylor Avenue, Elkins, WV 26241.

William "Bill" D. White -- Bill passed the early morning of May 3, 2016 at Camden Clark Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born November 11, 1942 the son of James Okey and Clara West White in Walker, W.Va. He retired from Chevron Chemical Marietta Plant in 1999 after thirty five years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; his daughters, Beth White of Rockwall, Texas, Kelly Monk (David) of San Angelo, Texas, Patricia Labarre (Thad) of Rockwall, Texas and Carol Waddell (David) of Heath, Texas; two sons, Jeff White (Alex) of Parkersburg, W.Va., Chris White (Stephanie) Walker, W.Va.; his brother, Fred White; and sister, Fran Lockhart both of Parkersburg; fourteen grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jim White; and sisters. Ruby White and Mary Pickrell.

The family wishes to thank Lisa Barringer NP and the staffs at Amedysis, Marietta Memorial, Riverside Methodist in Columbus, Ohio and Camden Clark. The family abides by his wish for cremation and no service. Lambert-Tatman Funeral and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St. South Parkersburg is assisting the family.

Charles “Bill” Bock, 77, of Parkersburg, passed away February 24, 2025 at his residence.

He was born February 25, 1947 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Charles B. and Lula Marie Full Bock.

He was a 1964 of Parkersburg High School. He retired after 35 years with Corning/Schott Scientific.

He was a Christian and active with the Assemblies of God. He enjoyed watching WVU Sports, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Farrar Bock; one daughter, Leanne Adams (Dave) of Mineral Wells; two sons, Doug Bock (Cheryl) of Lexington, SC and Mark Bock of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Taylor Bock, Kaitlyn Drake (Tyler), Jacob Bock, and Maddison Bock; one great-grandchild, Suzanna Fortney; one brother, Harold Bock (Neva); and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2025 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St. South Parkersburg with Pastor Brad Puckett officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 2 and one hour prior to the services on Monday.

Loren B. Kittle, 68, of Route 2, Washington WV, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 1990, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born in Jackson County, son of the late Samuel M. and Lucy Burke Kittle. He retired from DuPont in 1981. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Mount Olivet Masonic Lodge No. 3 in Parkersburg and the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by two sons, Sam Kittle of Parkersburg and Loren B. Kittle, Jr. of Little Hocking; one daughter, Sandra K. Keener of Parkersburg; two grandchildren, Alan Kittle of Parkersburg and Jenny Kittle of Little Hocking; one brother, J. C. Kittle of Parkersburg; two sisters, Roberta Farrar of Parkersburg and Coral Jone of Arizona.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Kittle and one who died in infancy; and two infant sisters. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, with burial in the Independence Cemetery, Sandyville.

Richard Samuel "Sam" Kittle, 67, of Washington Heights, passed away March 22, 2010, at his
home.

He was born Dec. 17, 1942, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Loren B. Kittle and Velma K. Childers Kittle.

He was a graduate of Parkersburg High School, was a member of the Fairlawn Baptist Church and he retired from DuPont with 29 years of service. He was a member of the Rebel-Rouser Car Club and enjoyed restoring cars and trucks.

Surviving is his wife, Marjorie "Margie" Kimes Kittle; one son, Alan D. (Eva) Kittle of Washington; one grandson, Shane Richard Kittle; one brother, Loren B. Kittle (Beverly) of Little Hocking; his mother-in-law, Lottie Lucas Kimes; brother-in-law, Tom Kimes (Pamela); brother-in-law, David Keener; one niece; and one nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Keener.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, Pastor Greg Varndell and his cousin, Bob Farrar, will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from noon until service time.

Loren Brooks "Potsie" Kittle Jr., 65, of Little Hocking, Ohio, passed away Sept. 24, 2013, at his home.

He was born Feb. 26, 1948 in Parkersburg, a son of the late Loren B. Kittle Sr. and Velma K. Childers Kittle.

Loren was a 1966 graduate of Parkersburg High School and was employed by Tim Ellison's Excavating and Dozer Service of Elizabeth, W.Va.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Mountain State Muzzle Loaders Association and he was an avid Sprint Car Fan following the Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association.

Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Beverly Wigal Kittle; his daughter, Jenny R. Kittle of Little Hocking; he was very proud of his grandson, Walker Church. He enjoyed going to his basketball and football games.

Also survived hy his sister-in-law, Margie Kimes Kittle of Washington; his brother-in-law, David Keener of Marietta; his nephew, Alan Kittle and great-nephew, Shane Kittle and his aunt, Roberta Farrar of Parkersburg. He is also survived by two honorary daughters, Robyn Stewart and Karen Hensley Henthorn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sam Kittle; his sister, Sandra Keener and his uncle Raymond Childers.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street, Parkersburg. Pastor Bob Farrar will officiate. The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and an hour prior to the service on Friday.

The family would like to express their thanks to Tim and Vicky Ellison for all the help shown to them during Loren's illness and would also like to thank Housecalls Hospice for the care shown to him with special thanks to Nancy and Kathy.

Sandra K. Keener, 58, of Marietta, passed away May 26, 2009, at Marietta Care & Rehabilitation.

She was born Sept. 28, 1950, in Wood County, daughter of the late Loren B. and Velma Childers Kittle. She was a member of the Hanley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, David Keener of Marietta; two brothers, Sam and Margie (Kimes) Kittle of Parkersburg and Loren and Beverly (Wigal) Kittle of Little Hocking; one niece, Jenny Kittle and her son, Walker Church; and one nephew, Alan D. Kittle and wife, Eva, and their son, Shane.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one uncle, Raymond B. Childers and their dog, Nascar.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
