Obituary for Charles E Ross
https://www.snoufferfuneralhome.com/obituary/Charles-Ross
Accessed January 16, 2026

Everyone would always ask, Charlie when are you going to retire? He would always say when they wheel me out of here. Charlie retired in the early morning hours of April 3, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.

Charlie was born in Zanesville on June 7, 1944 a son of the late Harry E. and Ruth C. Greiner Ross.

Charlie was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church and The Old Steam and Gas Club. He was a past member of the National Tractor Puller Association, the Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association and Freeland Valley Antique Power Club.
Charlie was an avid tractor puller for over 50 years many of those years with his good friend Jeff Englehart pulling the Allis Chalmers D21 Pepsi tractor and in later years it was named Hoe Handle Engineering. His whole life he worked as a mechanic and owned and operated Ross Agri Mechanics for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Margaret Kittle Ross; daughters Chris (Kevin) Brooks, Shelia (Kem) Wilson and Marsha Parks (Donnie Morgan); sister Betsy (Ron) Thomas; grandchildren: Chad (Sara), Cheryl (Bobby) Christen (Justin), Brady, Emily, Ross and Jacob; great grandchildren: Ella, Courtney, Jack and Ruby.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Cheryl Ross.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olive Church, 1705 County Line Road, Hopewell, OH 43746.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Burial will take place in Williams Cemetery.

Death Records for Mary Kittle Andrick

Some family trees on ancestry have Mary giving birth to twins that died when she died.  Her death, on three separate death documents above, has Mary's cause of death as "unknown".  If her death had been because of complications during child birth, it would have said something along those lines.  Also, both birth and death records for Jackson County in 1913, searching under every last name beginning with "A", does not have a set of twins being born and then dying or stillborns.

I also question whether Mary is actually buried at Pisgah Cemetery, Elizabeth, Wirt Co., WV. First, there is no marker photo on the Find A Grave website. Second, she died in Jackson Co. WV, and third she was married to to Charles for only 15.5 months. Charles probably only married Mary to take care of his children. I would need to see an actual cemetery ledger with her burial on it, to believe she is buried there.  There is a higher probability that she is buried with her parents.....or not.

Prominent Ripley businessman and United National Bank board director, Charles H. Kittle, 78, died Tuesday, April 26, 1994, in Ravenswood Village Health Center after a short illness.

Mr. Kittle was part of the business community in Ripley for 49 years in the watch making and jewelry business. His career began as an employee of the late Dr. Oshel Staats, who operated a small watch and jewelry store in conjunction with his optometric office. Eventually, Mr. Kittle became owner of that business and purchased property at the present Kittle Jewelers site on Main Street. He replaced the old building with a new two-story facility in 1957, locating his shop on the first floor. Kittle's clientele extended into other states as his expertise in watch, clock and jewelry repair became widely known.

Mr. Kittle served his country both in war and peacetime. A one year enlistment in 1940 in the U. S. Army that would have ended mid-December 1941 was automatically extended with the bombing of Pearl Harbor six days prior to his discharge. Mr. Kittle served with the First Armored Division in the European Theatre of War for three years.

After the war, he served with the 812th Ordnance Reserve Unit in Ripley until his retirement in 1965 as a Warrant Officer. Mr. Kittle was a member of the National Watch and Clock Association and Masonic Lodge 16 in Ripley.

He was born two miles north of Ripley, son of the late Thomas B. and Lucinda Hertje Kittle.

Surviving: wife, Lucille Paugh Kittle; daughters, Kathy Kittle, Manhattan Beach, Calif., Kitty Jo Copper, Jacksonville, Fla; four grandchildren, Janell, Jeffery, Julie and Jill, Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Vail Funeral Home, Ripley, with the Rev. Carl Chambers officiating. Burial was in Independence Cemetery.
