Elliott E. Cline, 82, of Sandyville, died Wednesday afternoon in the Jackson General Hospital following an extended illness.

He was born in Leroy, a son of the late Elmer A. and Lora M. Enoch Cline. He retired in 1970 from the Wirt County schools as a bus driver, having served 17 years. He was employed for several years with the Columbia Carbon Co. where he was an oil field worker and was a life-long farmer. He was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of Wirt County. He was a member of the Pee Wee Lodge of Junior Order of Mechanics.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Zona Wilkinson Cline; three sons, Alfred Cline and Elden Cline, both of Sandyville and Elbert Cline of Leachtown; two daughters, Marie Sullivan of Sandyville and Velma Bain of Leroy; one half-brother, Henry Enoch Cline of Palestine; one stepsister, Pansy Reeves of Mineral Wells and several grandchildren.

Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Union Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Bush Funeral Home in Elizabeth is in charge of arrangements.

Elmer “Elden” Cline, 86, of Sandyville, WV, passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at the Camden Clark Medical Center.

He was born December 20, 1935 in Leroy, WV, a son of the late Elliot and Zona Wilkinson Cline.

Elden was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church. He retired from DuPont after several years of service where he was a production foreman and his interests have always been cattle and farming.

Family left behind to cherish his memory include two daughters, Valerie Cline of Parkersburg and Debora Cline of Sandyville, WV; one son, David Cline of Vienna; daughter-in-law, Carol Edwards of Mineral Wells; one brother, Elbert (Vickie) Cline of Leachtown, WV; one sister, Velma (Carroll) Bain of Leroy; six grandchildren, Shaun (Sarah) Murray, Bradley (Robin) Cline, Kristen Cline, Ethan, Lucie and Garrett Cline; and five great-grandchildren, Luke, Chloe and Ruby Murray and Haven and Braylee Cline.

In addition to his parents, Elden was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Canary Cline; infant son, William Cline, son, Dickie Cline; sister, Marie Sullivan and brother, Alfred Cline.

Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family. Entombment will be at the Sunset Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Richard (Dickie) E. Cline, age 57, passed away in a tragic accident on Nov. 10, 2017 [accidental home fire], along with his loyal dog Angel at his home in Pee Wee, W.Va.

He was born March 11, 1960, to Elden and the late Janice (Canary) Cline also of Pee Wee.

He is survived by his son, Bradley Cline (Robin Shamblin); his longtime girlfriend, Carol Edwards; sisters Valerie Cline (Roger Woodyard) and Deborah Cline (Shawn Ryan); brother, David Cline; nephews, Shaun Murray (Sarah), Ethan Cline and Garrett Cline; nieces, Kristen Cline and Lucie Cline; great-nephew, Luke Murray; great-nieces, Chloe Murray and Ruby Murray; a special aunt and uncle, Donna and Keith Archer; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is also survived by many wonderful friends who he loved like family. He loved life and believed in living it to the fullest. He always seemed to have endless energy and loved spending time with family and friends. He especially loved working on the farm and raising, selling and hauling livestock. He was most comfortable in the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting and trout fishing in the mountains.

No matter what task at hand, his beloved dog Angel was always at his side. He will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him, especially family, friends and neighbors in the small community in which he lived as he was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St, South Parkersburg with Pastor David Carpenter officiating. Visitation will be from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

Lora “Marie” Cline Sullivan 71, of Sandyville passed away March 1, 2009, at Jackson General Hospital in Ripley following an extended illness.

Marie was born April 19, 1937 in Leroy, a daughter of the late Elliott and Zona Wilkinson Cline.

She was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church, a 1955 graduate of Wirt County High School, was employed at Earl Balderson’s store for many years and then was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Dewey Sullivan.

Marie will be sadly missed and is survived by her children Danny R. Cline and wife Karen of Churchville, VA, Laura M. Pence and husband Joe of Mt. Solon, VA, and Chrystal Sullivan and John Shupp of Sandyville; grandchildren Jeff Cline of Vermillion, OH, Andrew Cline of Shipman, VA, and Blake Shupp of Sandyville; step-grandchildren Brandon Moats, David Wise, Meghan Halfhill, Samantha Pence, Robert Pence, John Shupp II, and Bryan Shupp; step-great-grandchildren Michael Maiani, Devin Darby, Wyatt Darby, and Amber Shuey; brothers Elden (Janice) Cline of Sandyville, Alfred (Carol) Cline of Sandyville, and Elbert (Vicki) Cline of Walker, WV; and sister Velma (Carol) Bain of Leroy.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 5, at 1:00 pm at the Union Chapel United Methodist Church, Windy Ridge, Wirt County with the Pastor Everett Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at the Union Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was held Wednesday, March 3, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Busch-Kimes Funeral Home, 836 Washington Street, Elizabeth, WV and will be held one hour prior to the time of service Thursday at the Church.

Andrew Ray Cline, 22, of Sandyville, passed away at his aunt’s residence on May 6, 2009.

He was born March 31, 1987 in Ripley, a son of Danny R. Cline (Karen) of Lovingston, VA, and Mary May Thompson Cline of Parkersburg.

Andrew was a graduate of Nelson County High School in Lovingston.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Josephine Wright Cline; maternal grandmother Donna Thompson of Sandyville; brothers Jeff Cline of Cleveland, OH, Brandon Moats and Aaron Gregory of Lovingston, and Devon Paxton of San Diego, CA; step-brother David Wise of Kentucky; step-sister Meghan Boggs of Elkview; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Busch-Kimes Funeral Home of Elizabeth, 836 Washington St., with the Pastor Alan Tennant officiating.

The family received friends from noon until the time of services on Saturday.

Alfred Leon Cline, 75, of Sandyville, W.Va., passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2014, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus, surrounded with the love of his family.

Alfred was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Leroy, W.Va., a son of the late Elliott and Zona "Wilkinson" Cline.

He served in the Army as a military policeman in Germany. Alfred worked for Union Carbide for several years. He retired from Eveready Battery Company in Marietta after 28 years of service.

Surviving is his wife, Carol "Buffington" Cline; two daughters, Teresia Fought (Tim Abel) of Big Springs, W.Va., and Rebecca (Shawn) Almashy, also of Sandyville; one son, Alfred Cline Jr. of Sandyville; one grandson, Adam Abel of Big Springs; three granddaughters, Tonya "Fought" Lanham of Parkersburg, and Sara and Jessica Almashy of Sandyville; two brothers, Elden (Jan) Cline of Sandyville and Elbert (Vicky) Cline of Walker, W.Va.; and one sister, Velma (Carol) Bain of Leroy.

In addition to his parents, Alfred is preceded in death by his sister, Lora Marie Sullivan in 2009.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the Union Chapel Church on Windy Ridge Road, Sandyville, with Pastor Danny Schreckengost officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.

  I do not think Lotie Mae Cline (below) is a daughter of Elbert Clair Cline. She is in Lotie Murls McCartney Cline's obit as HER daughter but Lotie Mae Cline was not mentioned as a a step-sister in the obit of Berneda Mae McCartney Stewart in 2013. Barbara and Tracy are.  Berneda was the daughter of Victoria Tice (2nd wife) from her marriage with Paul David McCartney.

So I believe Barbara and Tracy are daughters of both Elbert and Lotie Murl McCartney.  Lotie McCartney kept the last name Cline until her death.  Lotie Mae is her daughter, but with an unknown father.

Edward Leon Fleak, 84 years old, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Feb. 20, 2013, in Parkersburg.

He was born in Hancock County, W.Va., a son of the late Fred and Florence (Brown) Fleak. He was a lifelong member of the First Evangelical Methodist Church on Gihon Road. He was a honoree Trustee, served on the Board of Stewards. He helped build the new EMC church, and was always willing to help on church maintenance and up keep.

He loved football, NASCAR, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He was a local farmer and loved animals.
He served in the United States Army as Sergeant First Class E6, in 555 Field Artillery Battalion in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded for heroic achievement, the Bronze Star Medal (Oak-leaf cluster), and the Purple Heart Medal. He retired from O-Ames Company, Plant 1, after 40 years of service.

He is survived by his sister, Hilda Ruth Terrell of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ermie (Wilkinson) Fleak; and four sisters, Virginia Yoho, Marie Nesselroad, Norma Fleak and Alice Ann Wilkinson.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Evangelical Methodist Church, with Pastor Jeff Williamson and Rev. Charles Wright officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, with military honors by American Legion Post 15. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.

The second tragedy of the war for the family of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Wilkinson, of Sandyville, came this weeks in the form of a telegram which told them that their son, S/Sgt. Orland Wilkinson had been missing in action over Yugoslavia since Feb 10. No further information was given and as a result the Red Cross will begin its usual investigation to see if it is possible to determine for Mr. and Mrs. Wilkinson whether their son has been killed, or had fallen into enemy hands. The cause of worry is that with the exception of isolated pockets all of Yugoslavia is now under the control of Marshall Tito’s forces which are aligned with the Allies. Two sons from the Wilkinson family went to war, and the other, Pfc. Elbert Wilkinson, was killed in action in Germany last October 7 and the family received notification of his death around November 1. The other son had many times since gone over enemy territory to avenge the death of his brother, but according to information which the War Department has given the parents, he failed to return from a mission on February 10, and since that time nothing has been heard from him.

Correne L. Wright, 94, of Parkersburg died March 28, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Jackson County, WV a daughter of the late John and Lizzie (Kittle) Wilkinson.

She retired after thirty years from O'Ames. She was a charter member of Gihon Tabernacle EMC and was a licensed Deaconess.

She is survived by her son Rev. Charles Wright Jr. (Melody) of Chestertown, MD; daughter Rebecca Blankenship of Parkersburg; and six grandchildren Eric, Aaron, Tabitha, Chad, Jessica, and Justin; and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles F. Wright, Sr. and twelve brothers and sisters.

Services will be Wednesday 12:00 PM at Gihon Tabernacle EMC with her son Rev. Charles Wright Jr., Pastor Jeff Williamson, and Justin Blankenship officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday 10 AM to 12 PM at the church. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.

Milford Lee Wilkinson, 89, of Sandyville, WV, died on March 2, 2019, in Ripley, WV.

He was born on July 7, 1929, the youngest child of John and Lizzie Kittle Wilkinson.

He was a farmer and retired from the O'Ames Company.

Survivors include three children, Melvin Wilkinson of Sandyville, WV; Avalon Ann Balis-Mick of Palestine, WV, and June Dawson of Walker, WV; one sister, Correne Wright of Parkersburg, WV; four grandchildren, Cliff Wilkinson of Cottageville, WV, Carolyn Wilfong and Wayne Balis of Burbank, OH, and Tonya Hays of Hartville, OH; and 11 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Fleak) Wilkinson; six brothers, Carleston, Cliff, Orland, Charles, Raymond and Delbert; five sisters, Velma Kittle, Zona Cline, Macel Wright, Ermie Fleak, and Anna Nuzum; and daughter-in-law, Emma Wilkinson.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at 11:00 am at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Pastor Bud McVay officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, LeRoy, WV.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
