About the last name of Dismuke or Dismukes.  The use of the "s" at the end of the name can be considered correct.  The omission of the "s" could also be considered correct.

If you are doing research, use both variations of the name in your search.  Documents found, may use both variations of the name within the same branch of the family.  Even in cemeteries, the same family will use both spellings.  Instead of fighting over which spelling is correct, just accept that both spellings are correct unless you have original source documentation that can track the specific usage of either spelling over a period of time.

  1910 indexed under Bonnie or Bannie Desmondes.  Barnie was indexed as a female. However, under occupation, "fireman locomotive" is listed.    (In 1910, there were no female fire fighters.)  This is the same profession listed on WWI Registration in 1917.

  1920, 1930, 1940 Census.  Unable to locate Barnie in census records.  Suspect his name has been mangled by indexers.
  1940 Census, Nell Mcgee is found living with her mother in Lowndes Co., MS (the last residence listed under Barnie's SSDI entry).  It is assumed that they married sometime after 1940.
