About the last name of Dismuke or Dismukes.  The use of the "s" at the end of the name can be considered correct.  The omission of the "s" could also be considered correct.

If you are doing research, use both variations of the name in your search.  Documents found, may use both variations of the name within the same branch of the family.  Even in cemeteries, the same family will use both spellings.  Instead of fighting over which spelling is correct, just accept that both spellings are correct unless you have original source documentation that can track the specific usage of either spelling over a period of time.

  1900 - 1910 - Asbury and Lela move to Florida.  They move to Volusia Co., FL.  The same area of Florida that brother Walter Lee Dismuke moved to in the late 1890's

From the Lela's marriage in 1899 until the 1920 Census, Lela is easy to find with her husband. 
Until the death of Asbury in 1929, The couple can be found in City Directories.

  1929 - Asbury Quitman Brooks passes away on July 15, 1929, New Smyrna, Volusia Co., FL and is buried on July 17, 1929 at Edgewater New Smyrna Cemetery.
  1930 - Census - Cannot find Lela in the Census
  1940 - Census - I found a Lela Mae Brooks, age 61, Wd who lived in New Smyrna in 1935 in the Masonic Home and Orphanage in St Petersburg, Pinellas, FL.  I think this was a state hospital.
  1945 - Florida Census - Lela Brooks age 55 born AL is living at 414 McKenzie Ave, Bay Co., FL  (Note address below 1951)

  About the birth date on the marker above.  Nathaniel was married to Lela for less than a year.  Chances are, he did not even know her actual birth date OR she herself, had forgotten.  From the 1920 Census, her age kept getting a little younger. Note the 1945 Florida Census where it was reported that she was 55 when she was actually 67.  Her birth year was 1878, not 1886.  She was 2 years old in the 1880 Census.

After I did all of the research, I looked again at Frankie Dismukes Wilson book p. 62.  Her book was written around 1960 before she died in in 1962.  She had the same husband names that I had found.  Her death date for Lela is the same as on the grave marker above.
 

About Nathaniel Lester Norviel

Nathaniel moved to Florida sometime after 1930.  In 1928 and 1930 he is with his wife Eunice in Memphis TN. There may have also been a wife called Jennie prior to Eunice.  There appears to have been several children from these marriages.
