Unknown burial location.  Strong possibility that it is Spring Hill Cemetery. Grandmother Phoebe Ellen Phillips Kittle is buried there along with husband Marion.  Although, Marion is probably buried by himself.  Children did not know who their mother was on all three death certificates so they would not know to bury Marion with Phoebe if she was there.

  About husband Jesse Hobert Smith.  Many family trees on ancestry have this Jesse mixed-up with another Jesse Smith that died in 1936 Marion Co., WV, whose parents were Jesse Smith and Ida M Woods Smith Pemberton out of Meigs Co., OH.  This, I discovered, was very wrong.

When looking at the Application for a Military Marker for son Ralph, I discovered that it was signed by his father Jesse H Smith living at 277 Dana Ave., Columbus, OH in 1977.  Clearly NOT dead yet.

In 1977, this would make Jesse H Smith someone in their 70's.  I then looked in the SSDI for a Jesse Smith that died in Columbus, OH.  There were only a few.  I  looked closer at a Jesse Smith that was born Dec 3, 1905 in OH and died in 1980.  Ends up his WWII Registration had birth location as Athens, OH with next-of-kin Myrtle Davis, sister,  living in Huntington, WV.  Searching through the 1940 Census for the sister Myrtle Davis, b. ca. 1896, I found her along with brother Jesse.  Searching through Myrtle's census records, I also discovered a sister Emma, b. ca 1909.  I then went to the 1910 Census to look for a Smith family in WV, OH, or KY that had children Myrtle, Jesse, and Emma. This is when I discovered the Henderson and Emma Smith family in Buffalo, Johnson Co., KY.  These are Jesse H Smith's parents.
 
  1924 - Mabel Perdue passes away, Aug 11, 1924 based on her grave marker.  I am unable to find a death record for Mabel.  I tried in WV using all name's Mable / Mable and then all Smith in 1924, and nothing shows up.

1925 - Marriage record for J H Smith and 2nd wife Wealthy (Welthie) Newsome. Jesse and Welthie have two daughters;  Jessie Mae Smith and Babe Ruth Smith.  They divorce before 1934 and Welthie marries L J Fraley.

Arlene Faye Damron 80, of Huntington, widow of Hager Damron, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018 in St. Mary's Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Chapman's Mortuary, with Rev. Dr. Thom Malcom officiating. Burial will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park.

Born August 21, 1937, in Cabell County, she was a daughter of the late Arnett and Ethel Perdue Barbour.

In addition to her parents and husband, an infant daughter, Rosetta Damron, and a brother, Alfred Barbour preceded her in death.
She was a member of Mount Union United Methodist Church and worked as a tax preparer for H & R Block. Phyllis Karen Campbell, 80, of Huntington, WV, died Tuesday May 21, 2024 at St. Mary's Medical Center.

Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday May 29, 2024 at Chapman's Mortuary Huntington with Chaplain Noha Khoury-Bailey officiating. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park.

Phyllis was born April 11, 1944 in Huntington, WV a daughter of the late Arnett and Ethel Perdue Barbour.

Also preceding her in death was her husband, Lynn Campbell, one son, Kevin Campbell, one sister, Arlene Damron, and one brother, Alfred Barbour.

Survivors include one son, Chris (Lisa) Campbell of Huntington, one stepson, Lynn Campbell, Jr. of Ft McCoy, FL, one step daughter, Latonnya (Randall) Step of Prichard, WV, seven grandchildren, Jeremy, Jonathan, Nina, Joseph, Justice, Brandon and Kevin, six great grandchildren, Autumn, Briar, Kaylea, Remmington, Tessa and Colt. HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — State police say they don’t know what caused a 24-year-old Huntington man to crash his car into a Speedway convenience store parking Thursday night taking out a gas pump and claiming his life.

Dustin Vega was driving on state Route 152 when he went off the right side of the highway, according to State Police Sgt. Stuart Swope.

“He struck a gas pump that obviously ended up catching fire. His vehicle went through the parking lot there and kind of down over the hillside to a creekbank behind the gas station,” Swope said.

Vega’s injuries were critical and he died a short time later.

Swope said investigators currently don’t know what caused Vega to lose control of his vehicle. He said there was no evidence of drugs or alcohol.

HENSON "JUNIOR" PERDUE JR., 83, of Charleston, left this world on March 14, 2008, at CAMC Memorial Division. Junior was retired from the Kroger warehouse, with more than 40 years of service, and was a lifelong member of the Teamsters Union 175.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy, his father, mother, brothers and sisters. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, Catherine; a son, George "Danny" and wife, Karen Perdue; daughter, Amy Mynes; grandson, Jason, and wife, Jennifer Mynes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A tribute to the life of Junior will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2008, at Johnson-Harding Funeral Chapel with Pastor Melvin Sizemore officiating.

Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne County.

Mary Catherine Perdue, 96, of Charleston passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022 at her residence.

Born in Sidney, West Virginia to the late George Dewey and Amy Ferguson Crabtree, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Henson Junior Perdue; daughter, Judy Perdue.

Catherine was a seamstress by trade and employed by Peter Pan Cleaners, Charleston.

She is survived by her children, Amy Mynes and George "Danny" Perdue (Karen) both of Charleston; grandson, Jason Mynes (Jennifer).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, Saint Albans with Pastor Melvin Sizemore officiating. Private interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne, West Virginia.

She was a retired employee of the state Compensation Division with 30 years' service and was a Baptist.

Surviving: mother, Mary Catherine Perdue of Charleston; sister, Amy Mynes of Nitro; brother and sister-in-law, George D. and Karen L. Perdue of Dale City, Va.; nephew, Jason Mynes of Nitro.

Ira Finley Graham, 82, of Milton, West Virginia, passed away Friday, September 25, 2009 at St. Mary's Medical Center.

He was born December 1, 1926, in Huntington, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Ira and Nancy Jane Hall Graham. He graduated from Barboursville High School in 1944; joined the Navy just before graduation ceremony so his parents had to pick up his diploma for him. Ira worked as an Electrician's Mate on the USS Latimer during WWII. He obtained the rank of Captain with the Huntington Police Department where he was a member from August 6, 1953-January 2, 1979 and was the acting Chief of Police before he retired. He was also a security guard at GNB in Huntington. He attended Marshall University and the University of Louisville majoring in Criminal Justice. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Graham, in 2001.

He is survived by two daughters, and son-in-laws Peggy and Charlie Burgess and Pam and Steve Williams. He is also survived by six grandchildren: John Darren and wife Evelyn Worst, Tiffany Worst; Debbie Lynn and husband Shawn Powell, Danielle Marie and husband Carl Chatterton, Stephen and wife Susie Boreing, Mason Rickmers and 12 great-grandchildren Brianna and John Dale Worst; Amber Beckelheimer; Ty and Ethan Boreing, Jaelyn and Carson, Katie and Nate Chatterton; Janessa Powell, Kimberly and Kelly.

We would like to thank our wonderful neighbors on Woodfield Drive for all their help and support. We love you all and will always remember your kindness. Memorial services will be conducted, Monday, September 28, 2009, at 11:00 A.M.at the Henson Mortuary with Bishop Tony Edmonds officiating. Pamela Lucett Williams -- Of Chelsea, Michigan, age 70, passed away peacefully at her home from cancer on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

She was born November 5, 1952, in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Ira Findley & Mary Ruth (Perdue) Graham.

Pam had a love of sewing, quilting, and nature. She loved the birds at her feeders and got a big kick out of any animal she saw. She was a keen observer of their behavior and often found the humor in them. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chelsea. She will be remembered for her kindness, love, and example of compassion.
We will miss her but are comforted to know she is with our Heavenly Father.

Pam was supported in her life and her cancer journey by a loving family and dear friends. It is a difficult journey to travel but good friends and family made it possible to travel with dignity, grace, humor, and acceptance. Near the end of her life, she was no longer able to keep up with her life-long passion of sewing. Her close friends finished her final projects for her so she could gift them to her grandchildren. Pam had excellent taste in friends.

Pam is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, Stephen Williams; a sister, Peggy (Charlie) Burgess; two daughters, Debbie (Shawn) Powell, Danielle (Carl) Chatterton; two sons, Stephen (Susie) Boreing, Mason Rickmers; and grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelly, Janessa, Landyn, Nathan, Katelyn, Jaelyn, Carson, Ty, Ethan, and Khloie.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 17, 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1330 N. Freer Rd., Chelsea, Michigan with Dr. Garn Smith presiding. Burial will follow at Oak Grove East Cemetery, Chelsea. The family will receive friends Friday, December 16, at Cole Funeral Chapel from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and the church Saturday, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith in Action, Arbor Hospice, or Food Gatherers.
