Additionally, Keith was twice awarded the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, and is a member of the Order of St. George and St. Barbara.

Mrs. Mary E. Frost, 86, of Biloxi, MS, was called home Thursday, April 19, 2007. She will be remembered by all that love her as a woman who never met a stranger.

Mrs. Frost was born July 4, 1920 in Norman, Oklahoma and was a longtime resident of Biloxi. She was a member of J. T. Leggett Memorial United Methodist Church where anyone who entered was greeted with open arms and a hug. Over the past years she became fondly known as "The Card Lady".

Her love of others shined with 39 years of volunteer work at Keesler Medical Center where she spent many hours holding hands, offering prayer and love to each patient.

Mrs. Frost was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Col. Thomas G. Frost; parents, Herbert Parsons and Myrtle Willis, and a brother, Owen Parsons.

Survivors include a son, Thomas G. Frost, Jr., of Phoenix, AZ; Daughter, Kathleen S. Kuehndorf of Biloxi; three grandchildren, Wayne J. Hutchinson, Cindy L. Stewart and Thomas G. Frost, III; three great grandchildren, Dalton Stewart, AsaMichelle and Austin Frost; sisters-in-law, Caroline Frost-Wilkerson and Betty Frost; Roc St. Martin, whom she called her adopted son; nieces and nephews.

Visitation is Tuesday, April 24, 2007, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in Biloxi. Celebration of Life Service will be in the "Resurrection Chapel" at J. T. Leggett United Methodist Church, Biloxi, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in the Biloxi National Cemetery.

The family prefers memorials be made to the J. T. Leggett Memorial Methodist Church, 1410 Beach Blvd., Biloxi, MS 39530.   Published in SunHerald

W. F. Batton

Commercial developer

Atherton resident Wilbert F. "Bill" Batton, who worked as a general contractor and commercial developer in California for 52 years, died at his home on April 30. He was 84.

A reception for Mr. Batton will be held Friday, May 8, between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Santa Clara Marriott, 2700 Mission Blvd., in Santa Clara.

A native of Verden, Okla., Mr. Batton left his family farm at an early age in search of work, picking cotton and apples, and later joined the Civilian Conservation Corps on the construction of the Grand Cooley Dam. As a traveling salesman, Mr. Batton claimed to have worked in every state, his family said.

Mr. Batton moved to California in 1943 after beginning his construction career in Anchorage, Alaska, where he built private homes and barracks for the Army.

He founded W.F. Batton & Co. Inc. in 1946 and built custom homes and apartments throughout San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. Mr. Batton was one of the first contractors to build tilt-up commercial buildings, his family said.

Many of Mr. Batton's buildings housed start-up companies in Silicon Valley, including his award-winning "Wedge" building in the Marriott Business Park, his family said. Another project in San Jose was recognized by the city as the "Outstanding Office Project" in 1990.

An avid sportsman, Mr. Batton enjoyed duck hunting and fishing as well as working in his garden, his family said.

He survived by his wife Marie; his daughters, Linda Batton, Marguerite Batton, Bonnie Keyes and Michelle Wright; three step-children, Harold, Jeanette and David Balzer; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Bonita Twombly, three nieces and two nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Unit at Sequoia Hospital Foundation, 170 Alameda de las Pulgas, Redwood City, CA 94062, and the MidPeninsula Hospice Foundation, 65 El Camino Real, Menlo Park, CA 94025.

Stephen Noel Broadstone, 69, was suddenly taken from us on October 31, 2010.

He was born in Houston, Texas on December 5, 1940, to Harold L. and Doris L. Broadstone. Steve grew up in Houston and later attended Wakefield High School in Arlington, Virginia. He then attended the University of Maryland and afterward went to work for the Federal Government in Washington D. C. for several years. Afterward, Steve moved to Houston and worked for the VA Hospital for many years until he retired July 1, 2000.

Steve moved to Galveston 12 years ago in 1998 and never looked back. He enjoyed memberships in the Galveston Historic Foundation, the Jean Laffite Society, East End Historic District, and the Silk Stocking Historic District.
Steve is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother, Ronald C. Broadstone, of The Woodlands, TX; and by several cousins. He will be missed by his beloved pets: dog, Bonnie Blu, and cats, Sue Ella, Lulubelle, and Beauregard; and his loving extended family of friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5, 2010, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home, 3028 Broadway, in Galveston.
