Anna's SS Application showed this last name
(Oct 1939) and changed back to her maiden
name (Feb 1944). Also, the marriage
record with James Willis notes that she is
divorced when she marries James. |

Mrs. Mary E. Frost, 86, of Biloxi, MS, was called home Thursday,
April 19, 2007. She will be remembered by all that love her as a
woman who never met a stranger.
Mrs. Frost was born July 4, 1920 in Norman, Oklahoma and was a
longtime resident of Biloxi. She was a member of J. T. Leggett
Memorial United Methodist Church where anyone who entered was
greeted with open arms and a hug. Over the past years she became
fondly known as "The Card Lady".
Her love of others shined with 39 years of volunteer work at
Keesler Medical Center where she spent many hours holding hands,
offering prayer and love to each patient.
|
Mrs. Frost was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years,
Col. Thomas G. Frost; parents, Herbert Parsons and Myrtle
Willis, and a brother, Owen Parsons.
Survivors include a son, Thomas G. Frost, Jr., of Phoenix, AZ;
Daughter, Kathleen S. Kuehndorf of Biloxi; three grandchildren,
Wayne J. Hutchinson, Cindy L. Stewart and Thomas G. Frost, III;
three great grandchildren, Dalton Stewart, AsaMichelle and
Austin Frost; sisters-in-law, Caroline Frost-Wilkerson and Betty
Frost; Roc St. Martin, whom she called her adopted son; nieces
and nephews.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 24, 2007, from 6 until 8 p.m. at
the Pass Road Chapel of Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes in
Biloxi. Celebration of Life Service will be in the "Resurrection
Chapel" at J. T. Leggett United Methodist Church, Biloxi, on
Wednesday at 10 a.m. where friends may visit one hour before
service time. Interment will follow in the Biloxi National
Cemetery.
The family prefers memorials be made to the J. T. Leggett
Memorial Methodist Church, 1410 Beach Blvd., Biloxi, MS 39530.

W. F. Batton
Commercial developer
Atherton resident Wilbert F. "Bill" Batton, who worked as a
general contractor and commercial developer in California for 52
years, died at his home on April 30. He was 84.
A reception for Mr. Batton will be held Friday, May 8, between
11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Santa Clara Marriott, 2700 Mission
Blvd., in Santa Clara.
A native of Verden, Okla., Mr. Batton left his family farm at an
early age in search of work, picking cotton and apples, and
later joined the Civilian Conservation Corps on the construction
of the Grand Cooley Dam. As a traveling salesman, Mr. Batton
claimed to have worked in every state, his family said.
Mr. Batton moved to California in 1943 after beginning his
construction career in Anchorage, Alaska, where he built private
homes and barracks for the Army.
He founded W.F. Batton & Co. Inc. in 1946 and built custom homes
and apartments throughout San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
Mr. Batton was one of the first contractors to build tilt-up
commercial buildings, his family said.
Many of Mr. Batton's buildings housed start-up companies in
Silicon Valley, including his award-winning "Wedge" building in
the Marriott Business Park, his family said. Another project in
San Jose was recognized by the city as the "Outstanding Office
Project" in 1990.
An avid sportsman, Mr. Batton enjoyed duck hunting and fishing
as well as working in his garden, his family said.
He survived by his wife Marie; his daughters, Linda Batton,
Marguerite Batton, Bonnie Keyes and Michelle Wright; three
step-children, Harold, Jeanette and David Balzer; 14
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by
his sister Bonita Twombly, three nieces and two nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the Pulmonary Unit at Sequoia
Hospital Foundation, 170 Alameda de las Pulgas, Redwood City, CA
94062, and the MidPeninsula Hospice Foundation, 65 El Camino
Real, Menlo Park, CA 94025. |
