About Lottie's middle name or the name of Letha

In many of the family trees for Lottie Pritt, the additional name of Letha is used as a first or middle name. If you look at the 1880 Census, at first glance, it looks like Letha.  When you look closely, it is actually "Lottie L". 

The only place that Lottie's middle name appears is on the delayed birth certificate for son Clay Frederick Hinchman.  On this certificate, Lottie's middle name is finally given as Lee.

Irene G. Ratcliff, 85 of Pasadena, died May 19th in an automobile accident in the company of her beloved son, Herbert R. Ratcliff. She was born April 16, 1924, in Elkins, West Virginia.

Survivors include her son, Herbert R. Ratcliff of Pasadena, her daughter Ruth Otterbein of Arbutus; three grandsons, Paul H. Ratcliff of Manchester, Herbert L. Ratcliff of Forest Hill and James R. Otterbein of Arbutus; three granddaughters, Patricia A. Hause of Newton Grove, N.C., Kimberly L. Smith and Sherri L. Tracey, both of Pasadena, and many great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 23 at the Family owned and operated MCCULLY-POLYNIAK FUNERAL HOME P.A., 3204 Mountain Road, Pasadena from 9 A.M to 10 A.M. Funeral Services will be held at 10 A.M. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Herbert R. Ratcliff, 65, of Pasadena, died Oct. 13.

He was born July 27, 1944. He was an avid duckpin bowler.

Survivors include two sons, Herbert L. Ratcliff and Paul H. Ratcliff; two daughters, Kimberly Ratcliff-Smith and Sherri L. Tracey; one sister, Ruth Otterbein; and grandchildren, Cody Smith, Nicole Ratcliff, Evan Smith, Michelle Ratcliff, Paiden Smith, Shane Ratcliff, Kolton Tracey and Erin Ratcliff.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18 at McCully-Polyniak Funeral Home, 3204 Mountain Road, Pasadena, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Park.

Mr. Frank F. Hinchman, age 79 years, a resident of Beverly, passed away at 3:15 am Sunday November 9, 2014 at his home.

He was born July 30, 1935 at Elkins, a son of the late Wilfred J. Hinchman and the late Flora Haddix Hinchman. He was married to Helen V. Lewis Hinchman who preceded him in death April 9, 2000.

He is survived by three sons, Garry Hinchman and wife Stephanie of Belington, Benjamin Hinchman and wife Lisa of Beverly and Lewis “Rick” Hinchman and wife Jennifer of Beverly.
One brother, Clarence “LeRoy” Hinchman of Elkins, grandchildren, Garry “Lee” Hinchman, Jr. and wife Chasity, Tina & Raymond Phillips, Jimmy and Christine Hinchman, Adam and Amanda Hinchman, Zachary Hinchman, Texie and Benjamin Kline, Gregory and Misty Warner, Amber and Benjamin Hinchman, II, Jacob Hinchman, Megan and Holden Hinchman and great grandchildren, Caden, Trenton, Ashton, Maggie Belle, Hunter Ray, Blake, Damian, Levi, Lucas, Benjamin, Cassondra, Savannah, Skylar, Sierra and Katherine as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.

Also preceding him in death were three sisters, Irene Radcliff [stet], Annie and Maudie Hinchman and three brothers, Calvin, Alonzo and Wilfred Hinchman.

Mr. Hinchman was a graduate of Elkins High School and retired from Kelly Foundry. He loved watching sports and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends may call from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, November 13th from the funeral home chapel. Pastor Mike House will officiate and interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Frank F. Hinchman. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.tomblynfuneralhome.com.

Mr. Garry Lee Hinchman Sr., 63, a resident of the Audra Park Road, Belington, departed this life Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown. Death was following a period of declining health.

He was born Nov. 17, 1956, at Elkins, a son of the late Fredrick Frank Hinchman and Helen Virginia Lewis Hinchman.

On Aug. 18, 1975, he was united in marriage to the former Stephany Jean Ross, who survives at their residence in Belington.
He is survived by one daughter; Tina Marie Phillips and husband, Raymond of Belington; four sons Garry Lee Hinchman, Jr. and wife, Chasity, of Damascas, Va.; James Edward Hinchman of Elkins; Adam James Hinchman and fiance, Amanda, of Belington, and Zachary Daniel Hinchman and companion, Tiffany, of Grafton. Also surviving are two brothers, Benjamin F. Hinchman and wife, Lisa, and Lewis Rick Hinchman and wife, Jennifer, all of Beverly. Surviving grandchildren are Maggie, Hunter, Lucas, Caden, Kolby, Blake, Trenton, Damien, Ashton, Levi and Waylon; and great-granddaughter, Mazikeen; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hinchman was a 1975 graduate of Elkins High School and was a self-employed in the construction field as a dry waller.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed digging ramps in the spring of the year. He especially loved the time he spent with his family. He Protestant by faith and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2020, from 5-9 p.m. and again on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, from 8 to 11 a.m., the funeral hour when services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor Robert Ware officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery near Belington.

Clarence Leroy Hinchman, age 83 years, a resident of Elkins passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at his home.

He was born, May 12, 1937 a son of the late Wilford Jacob and Flora Haddix Hinchman. He had never married.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Also preceding him in death were brothers, Frank, Wilfred, Calvin, and Lonnie Hinchman and sisters, Anna Gay Hinchman, Irene Radcliff and Maudie Lorraine Hinchman.

Clarence was a graduate of Elkins High School where he participated in basketball and track. He later enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball. Clarence was employed as a custodian for many years for the Randolph County Schools prior to his retirement.

Friends may call from 10: 00 am until 11:45 am Monday, April 5, 2021 at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Masks and social distancing will be required for anyone attending the visitation. Mr. Hinchman will then be moved to the Elkins Memorial Gardens where a graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm. Pastor Terry Burgess will officiate and Kathy Brake will be providing the eulogy. Interment will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Elkins High School Athletic Boosters, P. O. Box 28, Elkins, WV 26241 in memory of Mr. Hinchman. Wilfred D. “Wimpy” Hinchman, 67, a resident of 1605 1/2 Davis Ave., Elkins, passed away, Sunday, May 7, 2006, at 1:15 p.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past three years.

Born Oct. 3, 1938, at Elkins, he was the son of the late Wilfred J. and Flora Haddix Hinchman.

Wimpy is survived by two daughters, Heather Hinchman and fiancee, Michael Bonnett, of Elkins and Tabitha Hinchman and fiancee, Ronnie Tincher, of Beverly; one son, Wilfred “Dee” Hinchman II of Elkins; one sister, Irene Radcliff of Pasadena, Md.; and two brothers, Leroy Hinchman of Elkins and Frank Hinchman of Beverly. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Hailey Bonnett, Brittany Hinchman, Andrea Hinchman, Kiersten Hinchman and Codi McCauley; several special nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were two sisters, Maude Lorane Hinchman and Annie Gay Hinchman; and three brothers, Lonnie Hinchman, Calvin Hinchman and an infant brother.

Wimpy operated a ripsaw for Mongold Lumber Co. for almost 30 years, having stayed on when it became Coastal Lumber Co., retiring in the late 1990s. Wimpy had many hobbies during his life, too many to mention all of them, but these are a few that he enjoyed. He was a fastpitch softball player for Mongold’s Team, winning four championship trophies. Wimpy was an avid fisherman and hunter and an avid sports fan, having been a diehard Steelers, West Virginia University and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He also love to bowl, winning trophies for having the highest scores for Mongold’s bowling team. Wimpy also worked with wood, making many things and he loved to draw and play pool. He enjoyed swimming and loved vacationing at the beach with his family. He was a very outgoing person and never met a stranger. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle and spending time with them was his favorite pastime. Wimpy touched many lives and will be greatly missed but will remain in the hearts of those who loved him forever.

Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Runner Chapel Thursday, May 11, at 1 p. m. The Rev. William “Bill” Sullivan and the Rev. Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday at the Lane Family Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for Amanda Lou Chechitelli who passed away Friday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Boardman Campus.

Amanda was born March 3, 1925 in Elkins, WV a daughter of the late Clay and Pearl (Boyles) Hinchman.

A homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in McDonald. Amanda enjoyed spending time with her family and rooting for the New York Yankees.

Her husband, John Deno Chechitelli, whom she married July 12, 1946, passed away February 23, 2005.
Amanda will be sadly missed by her son John D. (Linda) Chechitelli Jr of Austintown; three sisters: Jean Connor of Winchester, VA, Mitzi (Louis) Osborne of Austintown and JoLene Boserman of Girard; three grandchildren: Jennifer, Jamie (Michael) and John Matthew (Tanisha); four great grandchildren: Lexi, Caleb, Cadence, and Giovanni; and a sister in law Sara Hinchman of Austintown.

Besides her parents and husband, Amanda is predeceased by a sister Naomi Russell and two brothers Charles and Frederick Hinchman. Friends may call from 3 pm until 5 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joline R. Boserman, 93, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Warren Nursing Home.

Joline was born April 29, 1928 in Elkins, West Virginia a daughter to the late William and Pearl (Boyle) Hinchman. She was devoted to caring for her family. Joline was a former member of Community Fellowship Church of God in Austintown. She enjoyed playing bingo and taking trips in the car. Joline lived a great life and was always happy.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Gishaine) Boserman of Boardman, Patrick Boserman of Girard, and Terri Makis of Slippery Rock; sisters, Mitszy of Austintown and Jean of Washington DC; grandchildren, Scott and Tracy; along with 8 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Boserman; sisters, Naomi and Amanda; and brothers, Charles and Fred.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 11th, 1:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Scott Boserman, 45, of Boardman, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023, following a long battle with kidney disease.

Scott was born May 11, 1977 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son to Michael and Ghislaine (Rossignol) Boserman.

He was a 1995 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. After graduating Scott attended Hannah E. Mullins School of Nursing and became an LPN nurse.

Scott was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and Steelers fan. He enjoyed watching all sports.

Charles E. Russell Jr., 56, of Liberty Twp., passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Russell was born February 26, 1959 in Chevrolet, Maryland, the son Charles E. and Naomi Hinchman Russell Sr. Chuck had worked for Indalex Aluminum, in Girard, for 27 years and was presently working for Youngstown Tool and Die Co. He was a 1978 graduate of Girard High School.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, the former, Cathy M. Fye, whom he married May 23, 1998, sons, Jeremy Russell and Jason Russell, both of Scottsdale, Arizona, daughters, Nicole (Anthony) Garcia, of Port St. Lucy, Florida, and Stephanie Russell (Dominic Aurilio) , of Liberty Twp., a grandson, Giovanni Aurilio, sisters, Martha Scoville, of Girard, Tena Pendland, of Pittsburgh, and Patricia Mesler, of N.C., and step-sisters, Katherine Roberts, of Tenn., Karen Joseph and Shirley Roberts, both of West Virginia.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, John Russell. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 12th, at 9:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Wife, mother, and grandmother "Mitzi" Mary Osborne, 85, of Austintown, Ohio entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023 with family by her side.

She was born February 6, 1938, in Elkins, WV to the late Clay and Pearl Hinchman. She was a life-long resident of the Youngstown area after moving in her high school years.

Mitzi's Christian faith was an essential part of her life. She was an active member of the Church of Christ, where she and her husband were leaders of Marriage Encounter weekends for many years. She spent a great deal of time praying for others. She was a great listener and an encourager. She cared deeply about people and many have shared stories with the family of how she made a difference in their spiritual walk with the Lord.
Mitzi was deeply devoted to the love of her life, Lou Osborne. They were married for over 60 years. Lou and Mitzi started L&M Trophy in 1967, now known as Austintown Trophy.

Mitzi was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, going on vacations, playing cards, Face Timing and telling her family, "You pray for me and I'll pray for you."

Mitzi was an avid bowler back in the day and won the title of the 1968-69 Youngstown Women's Bowling Association Single's Champion with a handicap score of 699.

She was preceded in death by her son, Roger MacPherson; her siblings, Charlie Hinchman, Mandy Chechitelli, Joline Boserman, Naomi Russell, Jean Connor, and Fred Hinchman.

She is survived by her husband, Lou Osborne; children, Jeff MacPherson (Sandra) and Sherry Hickerson (Tim); granddaughters, Angelica (Luke) Thorne, Meghan Hickerson, and Sarah Hickerson; grandson Evan Emerick; niece, Martha Scoville [dau of sister Naomi], that was raised as Mitzi's sister; as well as many other nephews, nieces and friends.

Calling hours will be Friday, June 16th from 6-8 pm. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 17th at 10 am at Lane Funeral Home located at 5797 Mahoning Ave. Austintown, Ohio 44515.  www.lanefuneralhomes.com

He was born July 2, 1943, in Elkins, W.Va.

Hinchman had been employed by TRI and was a member of Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Youngstown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Survivors include his wife, Sara J. (McMillen) Hinchman; sons Joseph J. Ranalli of Mineral Ridge, Gregory D. Hinchman of Bristol and Anthony J. Ranalli of Columbia Station; a daughter, Peggy S. Zarlinga of Elyria; sisters Amanda Chechitelli of McDonald, Joline Boserman of Girard, Martha Scoville of Girard, Mitzi Osborne of Austintown and Jean Conner of Winchester, Va.; and 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clay F. and Pearl (Boyles) Hinchman; son, Fredrick C. Hinchman Jr.; brother, Charles Hinchman; and sister Naomi Russell.

Friends may call 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at McClurkin Funeral Home, 222 S. State St., Girard. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 2432 S. Raccoon Road, Youngstown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House or the church.
