1900 - Census - The last person
listed on this family's census is Minta Stewart. This person is
indexed as "Servant" but what is actually written there is "Serbanh".
What this is, I can not say. However, this person is a Stewart.
I am sure Minta is part of the family but I don't know where she fits in
(at this time). This is not an older sibling because she would
have shown up in a previous census. Note the birth locations,
which are the same as Elizabeth. Evidently, according to the
census taker, Minta had lost most of her mental abilities.
Update April 2017 -- Highly suspect that Minta Stewart is
Margaret Stewart, daughter of Linnier Everett Stewart and Eleanor
Dismuke. Eleanor was Elizabeth's aunt. Which means Margaret
or Minta was her first cousin. The date of birth given for Minta
fits. Also Margaret is shown as "insane" on the 1870 Census.
And "idiotic" on the 1880 Census. |

Sudie Henrietta Muldrow
- b. Sep 31, 1879, Milam Co., TX; d. Mar 12, 1949,
Austin, Travis Co., TX;
m1. Edwin Elijah White (b. Jun 1, 1876, TX, son of William
P White and Rose C Floyd; d. Jun 27,
1917; Buried at Little River Cemetery, Jones Prairie, Milam Co.,

twins.)
m2. Charles J Bogle Payne (Feb 29, 1876, Monroe Co.,

1914, Austin, Travis Co., TX, Buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Austin,
Travis Co., TX, Plot: Sec 3, Lot 1089. Grave marker has wrong death day.
Please refer to TX death certificate below. Feb 8, 1914, was the day he was
buried.)

|
|
The reason for the two marriage licenses
might have been simply because Sudie was not yet 18 years of age.
So they went to a nearby county that did not have the age requirement.
Falls County required that the bride be at least 18 years.

1910 - Census - In this census, Sudie gives her marital status
as Widow. However, Edwin Elijah White dies in 1917. I
have looked for a death certificate for him, to no avail. What
is interesting, is the 1910 City Directory for San Antonio. Sudie is
also listed as the widow of Edwin White. Either Edwin deserted
Sudie or she left him..... OR the Edwin Elijah White buried
at the Little River Cemetery, Jones Prairie, Milam Co., TX (See
grave marker here) is a different Edwin White.
The birth month and year does however match the 1900 Census
(accounting for the one year errors that occurred frequently with
this census)

Jewel Burch White |
|
Most historical
documents have his name as Burch White and in a few City
Directories as J Burch White. First name Jewel only appears in the SS
Application for sons Walter and Lee AND the birth certificate
for son Walter.
Some family trees have switched the first
and middle names. Probably because they want it to show up
if someone is searching. Only in these family trees does the
name appear Burch Jewel White. This contradicts the historical
documents which show Jewel as the first name. |

Obituary for
Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Muldrow Newman
http://www.lmtonline.com/obituaries/article/Elizabeth-Betty-Jean-Muldrow-Newman-10209881.php |
Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Muldrow
Newman was called to eternal rest by our Heavenly Father on
Nov. 10, 2014.
Betty was a loving wife, devoted mother and cherished
grandmother. She was a teacher, a librarian, an
artist, a crafter, a seamstress and a gardener.
Betty was born in Encinal, Texas, on May 26, 1932, to Joseph
Boyd and Lydia Antonia Sanchez Muldrow who preceded her in
death, as did her sister, Wilma Pearl and brother Stephen
Boyd.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, George
Everitte Newman and by their four adoring daughters: Mary
Antonette “Toni” (Eloy) Cantu of Laredo, Elizabeth Louise
(Mario) Martinez of Laredo, Laura Kathryn (Humberto) Garcia
of Hebbronville and Andrea Edwina (Alvin) Newman-Caro of San
Antonio; grandchildren, Cilena Elissa Cantu-Marquez
(Javier), Eloy Alfonso Cantu III, Mario Eugenio Martinez
Jr., Rebecca Marie Martinez, Kathryn Leonor Garcia, Theresa
Elizabeth Garcia, Olivia Leocadia Garcia, Alvin Boyd Newman-Caro,
Alex Everitte Newman-Caro, Andreas Joseph Newman-Caro and
Avalouisa Sophia Newman-Caro.
She is also survived by her sister, Lydia Joyce (Manuel
“Meme”) Ortiz, brother Joseph Burch Muldrow (Yolanda) and
several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Betty Jean, as she was affectionately called by her husband,
graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1947 and went on to study
at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
She received a teaching certificate and taught school in a
one-room country school house called Prairie View School,
five miles west of Encinal in the Krugerville Community.
After she married, she taught elementary school in Eagle
Pass, Texas, and later in Del Rio, Texas.
Shortly after having her third child, she decided to devote
her time to raising her girls. She was room mother,
volunteer school librarian at Sacred Heart Academy in Del
Rio, Texas, and Girl Scout leader.
She made it possible for her girls to have many everlasting
experiences and memories which they received through piano
lessons, arts and craft classes and dance classes, driving
them to Laredo several days a week for hours of lessons.
Betty and George never missed a dance recital, tennis
tournament, youth group production, one act play, high
school band event, or track meet and continued doing so with
their grandchildren, even when the events took them out of
state.
Betty took up painting in her early forties and left behind
many lovely paintings for the family to cherish. Betty
had a great love for literature and surrounded herself with
books. With her girls now grown, she became the
librarian for Jim Hogg County, serving in this position from
1985 through 2010. Of course her most special patrons
were the children. She insisted on providing them with
“reading hour” and other special events.
With a love for nature, Bebie, as her grandchildren lovingly
named her, tended her garden tirelessly and could name every
plant in it. She and George were members of the Texas
Cactus Council and enjoyed many special outings with the
group. Enjoying years of ranch life with her family,
she loved horseback riding and working cattle with her
father, her husband, and her little brothers.
We, Betty’s daughters thank God for the wonderful mother
that He graced us with and the love that she and dad shared
together and with us.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church where Betty and George renewed
their wedding vows August 1, 1964, will be the setting for
her services.
Pallbearers are Eloy Alfonso Cantu II, Mario E. Martinez,
Humberto Garcia, Alvin Caro, Eloy Alfonso Cantu III, Mario
E. Martinez Jr., Alex Everitte Newman-Caro and Andreas
Joseph Newman-Caro. Honorary pallbearers are Alvin
Boyd Newman-Caro and Joseph Burch Muldrow. |

Barbara
Muldrow Tyler, age 76 of Temple, went to the arms of
the Lord Sunday March 2, 2014. Burial will
follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Barbara was born March 7, 1937 in Rosebud to Arnold
and Aretta Lewis Muldrow.
She loved music, family and friends. Barbara loved
the Lord and everyone she met she expressed it
through hymns and scripture. Her face was always
made up and loved her red lipstick. She believed red
lipstick fixes everything. She was a homemaker and
helped raise her precious grandchildren. She will be
greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son,
James Sandel and her sister, Doris Norfleet. |
|
Survivors include her son,
Michael A. Sandel, daughters, Lori A. McKay and Mindi L.
Hepburn and a brother, James Muldrow and four grandchildren. |

is there also....just covered by the dirt and grass.
