Obituary for Maxine Bailey Dittmer

Born Sept. 2, 1922 in Jones Prairie Texas (Milam Co.). Died July 16, 2006 in Truckee California

Maxine is survived by her children Sally Dittmer-Ideker and Stephen Dittmer, and her grandchildren: Tenaya and Micaela Ideker and Michael Dittmer. Her late husband was Earl C. Dittmer whom she married in 1955.

Maxine graduated from Mary Hardin Baylor College, Texas, in 1945. She moved to California in 1947. She was an elementary school teacher for 36 years. She last taught at Whisman School in Mountain View for 19 years as a kindergarten teacher and retired in 1985.

Maxine attended Baptist Churches while growing up in Texas. From 1961 to 1993 she attended Ladera Community Church in Portola Valley, California. She enjoyed being with people from her church.

  1954 - Jimmie passes away this year.  Based on the fact that the family lived in Albuquerque, NM during this time AND the fact that no one has been able to locate a reference to her death in the TX death index OR the TX death Certificates, leads me to believe that she probably passed away in New Mexico.  Online death records for NM for 1954 do not exist at this time (Apr 2017)

Bobby Marcellus Lange, 94, of Texas City, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in Texas City.

Burial at Grace Memorial Park.

Bobby Lange was born April 10, 1922 in Calvert, Texas to Charles Augustus Lange and Jimmie Stewart Lange. He moved to Texas City in 1947 and went to work for Ford, Bacon & Davis. He became an electrician apprentice for Union Carbide in 1950 where he worked until 1985. He was a 65 year member of the electricians union. Bobby married Freda Dowdy in October 1951 and would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in October.

Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Jimmie Lange; niece, Nikki Lange.

Survivors include wife, Freda Lange; brother, Nick Lange of Waco; brother-in-law, James Dowdy of Austin;
nieces, Debbie Rabe and Teresa Daniels of Rockhill, SC; Terri and Pete Appostaluk [sp wrong] of Ohio, Deb and Mike Dodd of Bryan; nephews, Nick Lange, Jr. of Little Elm, Roger and Dianne McCrary of Santa Fe, Roney and Pat McCrary of Santa Fe, Johnny Dowdy of Houston, Darrow and Carolyn Redden of Nelsonville, TX; and numerous cousins and friends.
