Marriages and Children
Edmund Thomas Dismuke
1851 - 1900 |
|
|
|
|
About the last name of Dismuke or Dismukes. The use of the "s" at the
end of the name can be considered correct. The omission of the "s"
could also be considered correct.
If you are doing research, use both variations of the name in your search.
Documents found, may use both variations of the name within the same branch
of the family. Even in cemeteries, the same family will use both
spellings. Instead of fighting over which spelling is correct, just
accept that both spellings are correct unless you have original source
documentation that can track the specific usage of either spelling over a
period of time.
The family of Edmund Thomas Dismuke (1851-1900), predominately used Dismuke,
without the "s" |

Edmond's third wife
Frances was married previously to Aaron Williams, Jr (m. Jan 23, 1840,
Harris Co., GA) who died in Nov 1849
and they had the following children that were mentioned in his will: William
T Williams, Avington B Williams, David S Williams, Boling W Williams,
Virginia F Williams, James T Williams, Sarah F Williams, Jephta F Williams.
Edmond Dismukes was the executor of Aaron Williams' will, which can be viewed
on Ancestry.com. Some of the children show up on the
1860 census record with the last name Dismuke, however, they were not
Edmond's birth children. They were Avington, James, Sarah, and Jeptha.
Avington took the last name of Dismukes.
The children listed in Aaron Williams' will are half-siblings of Edmond
Thomas Dismuke (1851-1900). The siblings below under Polly Langston,
Margaret Williams, and Mary F Langford are also half-siblings.

Edmond Dismuke - b. Nov 1879,
TX; d. after 1910 |
| |
|
Edmond Dismuke |
| |
1880 - Census -
Edmond is shown as an infant living with parents in Colorado Co.,
TX. Census shows Nov as the month of birth in previous year,
1879. |
| |
1910 Census -
mother lists having had five children. All still living in
1910 |
| |
I have searched for
Edmond (if that was actually his name) in all online records.
It seems odd that one child would be named Edmond and another
Edward. Edmond could have been the middle name.
I have searched for all male Dismuke(s) born Nov 1879, TX in various
databases. There are a few other Edmunds or Edward Dismuke(s)
born in 1879. However, when I check the parents, they were not
Edmund and Newell. |

Obituary for
Hattie Mae Cliffe
(no source given) |
News was received here early
Thursday morning of last week of the death of little Hattie
May, 6 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Cliffe of
Port Arthur, her death occurring in Houston, where she had
been taken for treatment, on Wednesday night.
The remains were tenderly cared for and brought here for
burial, interment taking place at the Masonic Cemetery
Friday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. V. E. Stokes, local
Baptist pastor, officiating.
We understand the beloved little girl had been in ill health
for a long time, and although everything possible was done
for her it was without avail. "God's finger touched her, and
she slept."
Mrs. Cliffe was formerly Miss Hattie May Matthews, a
daughter of Mr. John Y. Matthews, and sister of Mr. Leslie
G. Taylor of this city. |

Obituary for
Robert C "Bob" Gramling |
ROBERT C. ”BOB” GRAMLING, passed
away September 4, 2001, after a brief illness. He was a
well-known automobile dealer associated in and near Houston
for over 50 years.
A native Houstonian, born February 14, 1929, he moved to his
new home in Katy after having sold Katy Ford, Inc., a
franchised dealership which he owned and operated for many
years.
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda C. Ingham and
husband, Jim of Katy; granddaughter, Stephanie C. Vasek of
Katy; sister, Evelyn Kaechler and husband, Charlie of
Cypress, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. His son,
Mark, and his parents, Gladys Marie Perryman and Richard Lee
Gramling, preceded him.
He proudly served in the Air National Guard and as an Air
Force staff sergeant for a squad at Moses Lake, Washington,
and Victorville, California, during the Korean Campaign. He
is currently a member of First United Methods Church in
Katy. Quietly but decisively he manifested his abiding faith
by his anonymous benevolence to individuals and charities
and was active in annual Muscular Dystrophy drives.
Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Houston. |
