Lucinda
Dismuke
1841 - btwn 1910-1920 |
|
|
|
|
About the last name of Dismuke or Dismukes. The use of the "s" at the
end of the name can be considered correct. The omission of the "s"
could also be considered correct.
If you are doing research, use both variations of the name in your search.
Documents found, may use both variations of the name within the same branch
of the family. Even in cemeteries, the same family will use both
spellings. Instead of fighting over which spelling is correct, just
accept that both spellings are correct unless you have original source
documentation that can track the specific usage of either spelling over a
period of time. |

Margaret Williams |
|
1850, AL |
Married Feb 19, 1829, Pike Co., GA |
|
Lucinda is the only child of Edmond and Margaret that shows up with him
in the 1860 US Census. The most important census would be the 1850
Census, where sadly, this family cannot be found.
|
Edmond's third wife
Frances was married previously to Aaron Williams, Jr (m. Jan 23, 1840,
Harris Co., GA) who died in Nov 1849
and they had the following children that were mentioned in his will: William
T Williams, Avington B Williams, David S Williams, Boling W Williams,
Virginia F Williams, James T Williams, Sarah F Williams, Jephta F Williams.
Edmond Dismukes was the executor of Aaron Williams' will which can be viewed
on Ancestry.com. Some of the children show up on the
1860 census record with the last name Dismuke, however, they were not
Edmond's birth children. They were Avington, James, Sarah, and Jeptha.
Avington took the last name of Dismukes.
Of note: Some family trees list Avington and Lucinda (dau of
Edmond and Margaret) as twins. If Lucinda was Avington's twin, then
Lucinda would have been mentioned as a child of Aaron Williams in his will.
Lucinda's mother is Margaret Williams. Avington's mother is Frances C
Tate Williams.
The siblings below under Polly Langston,
Frances C Tate, and Mary F Langford are half-siblings of Lucinda |

1910 - 1920 - Lucinda
dies. She is not on any of the census sheets for her
children in 1920. I searched extensively in the TX
death certificates for Lucinda, with no luck. There is
always the possibility that she died in another state. |

Frank "Fonnie" Lucas Langford -
b. Sep 23, 1867, AL; d. Jan 19, 1934,
Haskell, Haskell Co., TX; m. Willie Dean Hudgens (b Jan 29, 1874, Milam Co, TX, daughter
of Bazzel M Hudgen and Sarah A Cargill; d. Sep 15, 1950, Haskell, TX) Aug 12, 1890, Milam Co., TX |
| |
|
Frank "Fonnie" Lucas Langford and Willie Dean Hudgens |
| |
The first name of Frank
is used on most legal documents, like his Social Security and Death
Certificate. Fon or Fonnie appears on census records and his grave
marker. Frank was used on the SS application for two of his
sons. Which means, they filled out the SS application form
using the first name Frank for their father. Frank is most likely his birth / legal name. Fonnie was the name, everyone who knew him, used.
However, on ancestry.com someone has created a family tree using the
first name of Alonzo or Alfonso. The name of Alfonso /
Alphonso first appears many
years later on the death certificates of the children which are
being filled out by the grandchildren of Frank.
The name Alfonso contradicts all of the historical documents.
The initial "A" never appears anywhere. It is always the
initial "F". I think, and I could be wrong, that
somewhere along the line, the family did not know that Frank was his
legal name and gravitated towards the
usage of his "known as" name of Fon and Fonnie. It then
somehow, evolved into Alfonso.

The middle name for
Roy is either Everett or Edward. The WWI Registration card
was filled out with him sitting there. Therefore, Everett
may be the actual middle name. Documents where Edward
shows up as the middle name are after his death on amended birth
certificates. In most instances, only the middle initial
of "E" is used. |

Everyday the Lord picks a bouquet and on Tuesday,
August 25th, 2015, he chose "Kathy Piatt" to grace
His presence. On this day, Kathy lost her battle
with cancer joining our Creator peacefully
surrounded with loved ones at home.
Kathy was born to Earl Mayfield Piatt Sr., and Rosie
Mae Langford Piatt on a Sunday, May 6, 1951, in San
Antonio, TX.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Earl
Piatt Sr., and Rosie Piatt; sisters, Alice Mae
Sharp, |
Cleatus Claudine Williamson,
Loraine Opal Bonham, Dorothy Faye Odom, Lois Nell Churchill,
and Sharon Piatt; and granddaughter, Savannah Piatt.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving sons and daughters,
Chris (Laura) Piatt, and Jason (Shawna) Hoch; grandsons,
Chance and Dustin Hoch; soon-to-be granddaughter, Kathyren
Piatt; brother, Earl (Le Ann) Piatt, and their son, Zachary
Piatt; sisters, Iona Gayle (Vernon) Smith, and Margaret Rose
(Robert) Condra; as well as numerous cousins, nieces,
nephews, friends, and beloved pet, Mr. "Bo" Jangles.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, a good friend, and
generous caregiver to those who needed her help. She was
talented in food, art, music, enjoyed her pet, and the
company of her family and cooking for them. She is
remembered for her compassion, selflessness, and beautiful
smile and gorgeous hair. She is loved by many and will be
missed. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. Friday, at
Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville |

 |
Heiden, Helen Marie
81, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, February
17, 2015.
Helen was born on July 21, 1933 in Haskell, Texas to
A. Lee and Ethel Holley. Her parents moved her and
her four sisters to Casa Grande, Arizona in 1942.
The family moved several times as her father worked
for the Southern Pacific Railroad. They settled in
Arlington, Arizona in 1947 where she attended
Arlington Elementary School and Buckeye Union High
School. |
It was at Buckeye Union High
School where Helen met the love of her life, Bruce Heiden.
They were married shortly after graduation on December 27,
1952. Helen and Bruce made their home in Buckeye where Bruce
worked on the family farm and Helen raised their four
children: sons Art, Les, and Hal, and daughter Holly.
She loved reading and was a founding member of the Friends
of the Buckeye Public Library, where she served as President
for many years. Helen was a huge Phoenix Suns and Arizona
Diamondbacks fan and loved attending games with Bruce. The
two of them enjoyed spending time at their summer home in
Flagstaff with their family. Helen was a devoted mother,
grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Helen is survived by her husband of 62 years, W. Bruce, her
four children, Art (Tyanna), Les (Dugi, Hal (Phyllis), and
Holly (Doug Bulfer), twelve grandchildren, twelve
great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She
was preceded in death by her parents A. Lee and Ethel
Holley, and her four sisters, Juanita, Oleta, Loeta, and
Shirley.
Interment will follow immediately at Louis B. Hazelton
Memorial Cemetery, 23100 West Broadway Road, Buckeye,
Arizona. |

Obituary for
Joyce Lee Langford Grasis |
|
 |
Joyce
Lee Grasis, a longtime resident of Yuma, Arizona,
met with her heavenly Father on Saturday, June 11th,
at the age of 70. With Hospice of Yuma's help, her
final wish of being home, surrounded by her family
and friends was granted at 9:17 pm.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Yvette Reckards;
son-in-law, Michael Reckards; her grandchildren,
Courtney Arredondo and husband Travis of Mesa,
Arizona; Chad Mills of Phoenix, Arizona; Autumn
Reckards of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her great
grandchildren, Richard, Ethan, Layla and Evelyn. |
She is also survived by her
brother, Gary Langford, of Wellton, Arizona; nephews, Ricky
Rinehart; Maris, Juris and Gonzo Grasis; nieces, Tammy
Brettell, Camille Rinehart, Liz Laster, Melody Dunn and
Melinda Tortolano; Barbie and Amanda Grasis; longtime
friends, Mary Jo, Jude, Dan, Betty, the Miller Family and
Robin Johnson.
Joyce touched the lives of everyone she met. Her list of
longtime friends is endless.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, John Grasis; son,
Kevin Grasis; mother, Linner (Lin) Langford; father, Henry
Langford; sisters, Wanda Rinehart, Sue Hill; and brother,
Wayne Langford.
Joyce graduated from Antelope High School in Wellton,
Arizona, and started her banking career in 1972, working her
way up to an officer with First Interstate Bank. In 1982,
she helped form the first local bank in Yuma, Southern
Arizona Bank. She was a member of the NABW, serving as
President from 1987 to 1988. In 1992, she started a new
adventure in the park model and manufactured home industry
with her late business partner, Joseph Miller. Her business,
Joyce's Home Sales, was her true passion that she shared
with her daughter and passes on for her daughter to
continue.
Joyce was a warm, compassionate woman who loved life and
lived it with the utmost integrity. Her daughter, grand
children and great grandchildren were her great loves, as
well as the many friends that she went on travels with. She
was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend and took
great pride in her community.
Watching my children, Courtney and Chad, lovingly help take
care of their grandmother's needs and seeing their strength
and compassion assured me that her legacy will continue. |

Obituary for
Don Wendell Stone

DUBLIN - Don Wendell Stone, 79,
went to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 8, 2011.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at
Cottonwood Baptist Church in Dublin with burial to follow at
the Cottonwood Cemetery.
Don was born Aug. 10, 1931 in Black Stump Valley in Erath
County to Edgar Horace Stone and Beatrice (Kilcrease) Stone.
He was united in marriage to Bonnie Culver on Nov. 5, 1949
and had three children.
Don had a life-long passion for farming. He believed you
should get up and go to work every day. Don began farming at
the age of five riding on a horse drawn cultivator at Black
Stump Valley near Hico. He moved to Dublin as a teenager and
began working at the service station at Camp Dublin. After
he married Bonnie they moved to Waxahachie but soon returned
to Dublin to work at Interstate Hatcheries. In a few years,
Don returned to the service station business and also had
two chicken houses. He continued this for many years while
raising three sons who all learned the value of hard work by
washing cars and pumping gas, gathering and washing eggs,
and also driving tractors and baling hay. He and Bonnie
bought a service station in 1965 which became Stone's
Service Station and later Stone's Auto Supply.
Don also served as the Erath County commissioner for
precinct 2 for 20 years. Farming was his first love, and he
continued to farm throughout his term as commissioner. He
trained not only his sons but his three grandsons to have a
love of farming. He spent countless hours on his John Deere
tractors and hay balers that he never dreamed of when he
began plowing behind a team of horses.
Don made many friends in his days at the service station,
serving in county government, and with the customers who
came to buy his hay. He loved to tell a story, pull a
practical joke, and pick on his grandkids and anyone else he
came in contact with. He will be missed by his family and
the many friends whose lives he touched.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Vicky
Stone of Dublin, Mark and Kim Stone of Dublin, Jerry Dale
and Melissa Stone of Dublin, and Johnny and Rayanne
McClatchy of Dublin, who was raised like a son;
grandchildren, Lindy Smith of Granbury,Landon Stone of
Dublin, Tyler Stone of Dublin, Miles Stone of Dublin, and
D'Nai Johnson of Dublin; great-grandchildren, Jadon Johnson
of Dublin and Avery Johnson of Dublin; sisters, Delma
"Blondie" Jones of Midland, Marie Hughs of Mesquite, Ferne
Ramsey of Weatherford and a host of other relatives and
